For all those who enjoy shooting sports, don't make the mistake of buying Winchester brand ammo. Last week I purchased both 9mm and 22 mag ammo from a local Walmart and it was so fouled up that I would not even shoot it much less carry it for self defence. Bent cases, bullets not seated properly and duds just to name a few of the problems. The 9mm ammo caused misfeeds, and failed to eject from the pistol several times. The 9mm cases were too far out of round and seized up in the chamber. The brass cases were most likely too thin and warped when fired. Walmart, the lovely people they are, said it was my problem and that I had to take it up with Winchester. Winchester has no contact info and when I did locate a number for East Alton Il, they did not answer the phones. Just a bunch of automated phone crap that leads you nowhere. Federal, Remington and CCI are all good.

I hope it was just an isolated bad batch,I just bought some winchester 9 jhp and a box of 40 s&w fmj.I'm going to go and take a close look at them!

I've not had that problem with Wincester in the past. I do know that prices are up and availability down for ammo right now. With that in mind, its time for me to dust off the Dillon reloader and crank out enough ammo to last me a while.

:think:Somethin' sounds fishey. Maybe someone switched the Winchester rounds with shoddy reloads? I dunno, but I've done a lot of shooting in my day, and have never had problems with Winchester ammo. Remington shotgun shells are pretty lousy though. At the current pricing, I think I'm gonna have to set up the reloading stuff and re-acquaint myself with my old hobby.

In any case, something doesn't sound right.:stickpoke:

Those Winchesters sound like the last batch of Remington 22LRs I bought. Kept getting duds in my pistol, and in both .22 rifles. A lot of loose bullets too.

I like the copper plated Federal 22LR better.

Never had a problem with either Remington or Winchester .38 or .357.

Interesting.

I quit using Winchester shotshells years ago because they were packing them too tight and the shot would deform the case making it difficult or impossible to chamber them.

I am guessing a bad batch or very poor handling during shipment.

I have used Winchester for years. 44 mag (Desert Eagle) 9mm, 45acp, 357 with no issues.

But, there are plenty others. Of course, ammo was hard to find for awhile so, I even bought some Wolf. Dirty but, still no issues.

Winchester is dirty ammo. I personally only keep it for fodder. For my .22s I use CCIs and everything else I shoot, I roll at home. Hand rolled always put a smile on your face.

Winchester is cheap ammo and cheap ammo it, well....Cheap!

I had a Winchester 12 Ga. # 7 shot shot gun shell blow apart a pump shot gun while dove hunting, several years ago.

Everything in WallMart comes from China. That is probably the problem. They have very little, if any, quality control in China. Don't buy from WallMart.

I still love and shoot my .40cal Flintlock on a regular basis.

Front stuffing coal burners will always be king!:thumbsup2:

I have put many thousands of rounds through both a Glock 23 (.40) and a Glock 21 (.41) using the Winchester S&W ammunition. I had one 'tray' of ammo that came out of the box that was terrible - that was all. I was not able to get anyone from winchester on the telephone but I wrote and sent them a rather lengthy letter describing my discust with their product and lack of quality control (explaining the few with cracked casings) etc. (It is a darn good thing that something I was tought to do was inspect everything before/while you load up and this particular time it was well worth it. I realize that this is just a small percentage of everything they produce - but it could have had disasterous results.

For personal protection I carry nothing but Fiocchi JHP. (Sometimes I will load FMJ instead of JHP in a backup magazine, just in case).

I just went down to my gunroom and checked several boxes of Winchester ammo (all from Walmart) and they where all made in the USA.

Im assuming it was Winchester White Box 115gn FMJ.

That's the cheapest ammo Winchester makes for 9mm.

Almost all of my 9mm FMJ is CCI Blazer. It's dirty, but it's really cheap to shoot and keep in practice. I keep Hornady Critical Defense ammo in the mags on my bedside stand.

Check out the "Emma Maersk" It is the largest container ship in the world. It transports 15,000 containers from China to the US in 4 days. It is leased by Walmart. Perhaps not all their goods come from China but you can bet more and more are.

I just checked the Emma Maersk on Wikipedia. They had her shipping route listed and the US wasn't part of it.

Sailing schedules

Emma Maersk's regular round trip involves Ningbo, Xiamen, Hong Kong (westbound), Yantian (westbound), Tanjung Pelepas (westbound), Algeciras (westbound), Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Algeciras (eastbound), Tanjung Pelepas (eastbound), Yantian (eastbound), Hong Kong (eastbound) and Ningbo.

In case you wonder why I seem to taking this personal my wife is a 26 year Walmart employee.

Both my kids worked for them while going to college. Every time my daughter changed schools Walmart let her transfer to the closest store so she was never without a job.

Anyways, back on to topic.

KrossKountry: Sorry you are having difficulties getting a hold of them. I'll take a look and see if I can find anything from when I contacted them - If I do I will let you know.
