Well, just got back from a great trip to Vogel and I see some oil coming from the rear shock.

Couple of questions, am I correct that the material and labor should be covered by warranty, the bike is an 06 ? Second thing, would I be wise to remove the trailer hitch before the dealer sees it ?

Yes to answer both questions...

I have known members to have thier rear shcok removed that did not remove the trailer hitch, however, if you happen to have the old frame bar then I would remove th ehitch so it eliminates any chance of hassel from the dealer..

but you do not have to.. this is just my opinion.:thumbsup2:

The dealer will replace the shock under warrenty.

The shock on my '06 was replaced under warranty (parts & labor).

The trailer hitch is your call, but I would think it best to remove it to avoid any issues with the warranty work (Yamaha could say that pulling a trailer is not "normal" use/wear if they wanted a reason to deny coverage under the warranty).

just had my 05 replaced under warranty and had the sidecar on it. No questions asked or problems. they just complained that they had to do it on the floor instead of the lift.
