Whistler Posted August 14, 2009 #1 Posted August 14, 2009 Just bought a new never ridden 2008 Venture... 6 gal tank as should be... The reserve light and trip gage comes on at about 172 miles then I ride about another 59 miles.. Had It checked and they said it was the tub in the tank ..Is there any way it can be adjusted or am I there for the life of the bike??? Ron:Cool_cool36:
RandyR Posted August 15, 2009 #2 Posted August 15, 2009 That sounds about right. Enjoy the ride. pictures.. we need pictures of all new bikes...
silverdeer0454 Posted August 15, 2009 #3 Posted August 15, 2009 I think most of us usually hit 150 miles and start to look for a gas station. 172 miles would be just about right.
BOO Posted August 15, 2009 #4 Posted August 15, 2009 Sounds normal to me, I get a light about 175 and I usually go another 35 to 40 miles. BOO
Dano Posted August 15, 2009 #5 Posted August 15, 2009 How much fuel did you put in when you filled it back up? You should be getting 38-42 mpg, which if you put in 6 gallons, would be 38.5 mpg (sorry, youll have to do your own conversion!). Not too bad, I would say! Dan

That extra 59 miles, is that on reserve? Depending on my riding, my light comes on at 170 to 190. Once it comes on, I have to switch to reserve about 12 to 15 miles later. If I fill up as soon as the light comes on, I normally get 4 to 4.5 gallons in the tank.
Naked Rider Posted August 17, 2009 #7 Posted August 17, 2009 if i ride on the back roads doing any where from 55 to 65 mine comes on about 190ish i can go about another 20 miles before it starts to buck and jump then i put it on reserve and get another 30 something out of her. but once that light comes on i start looking real quick if i have been on the super slab all day.
Chinto Posted August 17, 2009 #8 Posted August 17, 2009 Did you flip the gas tank's petcock to reserve? Or is yours already on reserve? I usually will be sputtering after around 12-15 miles once the low fuel indicators initiate. At this point I can usually get ~4+ gals in the tank if I refuel shortly after this happens.
Snarley Bill Posted August 17, 2009 #9 Posted August 17, 2009 i get about 244 miles on my wing before the light comes on. 44 mpg all the time.worst ever was 43 first tank. it's one of those energy efficient refridgerators.

Now c'mon Bill, that just CAN'T be right! You should get WAY better mileage than that on the trailer! You can't really compare your mileage with what those who actually RIDE the bikes get. Goose Hey, How's that new bike look on the trailer? I assume you checked it out and made sure it was an appropriate image before you bought it; you wouldn't want to look bad pulling it around, ya know? Edited August 17, 2009 by V7Goose
