Guest tjhess74 Posted September 19, 2007 #1 Posted September 19, 2007 hello, i have joined this group to let you all know i have been given an '83 from the family of a friend of mine. the bike was parked in a barn when the owner died in '92. it is very rusty and wasnt babied in its early life, however, there are some good parts available. im only selling the parts to recoup my costs of bringing it to sc from md (approx $150). if any of you need any parts, please let me know and i will tell you if i have it and what condition it is in. you can call me, tom, at 843-697-3632 or email me at tjhess74@comcast.net. if i dont sell much from this site then i will list the parts on ebay. if they dont sell then, the parts will be disposed of. all i ask is that you give a fair offer for the described item. i have paypal, and will take checks or money orders. thanks, tom hess
Squidley Posted September 19, 2007 #3 Posted September 19, 2007 Tom, You might want to put on what you think is worth parting out. Also put the parts in that classified section on the site, there probably wont be a lot left after the 1st gen sharks get through with it
Guest tjhess74 Posted September 20, 2007 #5 Posted September 20, 2007 gold/tan vr. parts as follows -contact me for parts condition and details plastic: right saddle bag, left saddle bag, trunk, rear fender, rear inner fender, inner vent tubing (up tubes), front fender, rear turn signals, rear light. all other parts: chrome windshield 3 pc trim, complete headlight and adjusting bracket assbly, radiator grill cover, seat, hazard switch. KEEP IN MIND this bike has been in an open barn in md since '92. corrosion has taken its toll but with some work or refinishing many of these parts are ok because they are structurally sound with no damage. i am not expecting top dollar, just something reasonable. this is first come first serve based on call/email time stamp. i will delete parts as they are sold, so stay tuned.

helomech Posted September 20, 2007 #8 Posted September 20, 2007 holy smokes, you guys are vultures!! Yeah, that seems to happen a lot here when someone throws a pile of parts out there! My bike hasn't got enough nice parts on it to part it out, so I just have to keep it running!
Guest tjhess74 Posted September 22, 2007 #9 Posted September 22, 2007 no one wants the carbs???? i thought that would be the first to go. i took off one diaphragm cover and inspected the rubber. it was actually pretty good, just a couple little creases that are starting to work through, but some silicone or liquid elec tape should work well. all slides, and linkage works freely.
bongobobny Posted September 22, 2007 #10 Posted September 22, 2007 I am interested, but thought they would have been long gone, too, Tom!!
shadow Posted December 23, 2008 #11 Posted December 23, 2008 I need the fuel "knob" or "dial" that goes on the square shaft to rotate for on-off-res. All I need is that knob my screw came out and I lost the knob the screw stayed on the floor boards. My email is shadow66@bellsouth.net Thanks Dan
