KarlS Posted August 12, 2009 #1 Posted August 12, 2009 The one thing Flint does right is it's "Back To The Bricks" car show. It started today and goes on thru Sunday. 20,000 cars last year. It is well done and the rolling cruise every night goes from Flint to Grand Blanc so there are plenty of places to park and see the cars. Saturday they are at the Sloan museum during the day. Here is the link to the web site. http://backtothebricks.org/index2.html So if you find yourself in Michigan it is worth the ride to check it out.
Squidley Posted August 12, 2009 #2 Posted August 12, 2009 I have heard of this one and it comes highly recommended by quite a few of the motorheads I know
ArticusMedicus Posted August 12, 2009 #3 Posted August 12, 2009 :thumbsup2:I'm gonna go cruise it tonight and again on Friday night.
RandyR Posted August 12, 2009 #4 Posted August 12, 2009 Don't forget to have a Vernor's ginger ale while you're there....
KarlS Posted August 12, 2009 Author #5 Posted August 12, 2009 :thumbsup2:I'm gonna go cruise it tonight and again on Friday night. I'm heading down by Grand Blanc tonight to watch, think I'll stop by the Hot Dog drive-in and see if I can get the scavenger hunt picture also. Haven't had one of their coneys in awhile.
Carbon_One Posted August 12, 2009 #6 Posted August 12, 2009 Yep it's one of the better cruises / car shows. Also this week / weekend is the Woodward Ave Dream cruise from Pontiac to Detroit --- http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/ Larry
GG54172 Posted August 12, 2009 #7 Posted August 12, 2009 Cool cars and the Birthplace of GM sounds great in theory, but I served 4 tours of duty in Flint and have no interest in going back. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of Michigan's "Shall Issue" law before traveling to the armpit of the state.
KarlS Posted August 13, 2009 Author #8 Posted August 13, 2009 Don't know what this "Shall Issue" is and yes in economics it is the armpit of the state. I rolled in at 10:00pm after being on the bike all day. The cars and bikes are out, Bars have tents up with live bands and/or DJ's, Restaurants cooking outside, churches selling dinners and people lining the road watching the rolling cruise. And this is only Wednesday. All sorts of venders have displays and dealers have their lots open for parking. Radio and TV stations are everywhere. Back to the Bricks gets a LOT of cars from the Woodward Dream Criuse. And it's all FREE. Just saying if you are in the area or want somewhere to ride and have fun for little or no money you won't be disapointed.
ArticusMedicus Posted August 15, 2009 #9 Posted August 15, 2009 Just got back from the cruise... Wow! We had a great time and mannn...there were some nice rides out there tonight.
KarlS Posted August 15, 2009 Author #10 Posted August 15, 2009 Wish I knew you were going, I just rolled in at midnight. Did you make it downtown? Tomorrow should really be good.
ArticusMedicus Posted August 15, 2009 #11 Posted August 15, 2009 Brother, I made it down town alright. I parked the bike across the street from Church-hill's, in front of the entrance to the Pavilion. All of the real nice Mopars we right next to me. We walked around a bit, checked out some nice cars, and saw some old friends. Then we headed south on Sag-nasty street. Took me a half hour to get to Tec-Center at Atherton st. Bike was so dang hot I had to stop and cool off the legs. Ended up hangin out there with some others on bikes and watchin the smoke shows. It was a great night. I was lookin for other VR members, but didn't see any... I'll be headed down there tonight about 9-10- o-clock. Let me know if your going and we will figure out where to hook up. Got to work till 5.
