dynodon Posted August 11, 2009 #1 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) OK, I know a few people have problems with that "other" venture club, but I and a lot of us here are a member of both. I believe in live and let live, the internet is big enough for everyone. But starting yesterday, I have been getting virus alerts when I try to go to the venturers.org site. It doesn't appear to be coming from my McAfee site advisor though, but from Google? Has the site been hacked and attacked? Can't seem to get through to post a note, even if I ignore the warning, it comes back with every click on the site. Never seen it before. thoughts? And please, no blasts, again, many of us are on and appreciate both sites. Edited August 11, 2009 by dynodon
Eddie Fulmer Posted August 11, 2009 #2 Posted August 11, 2009 Don I've had no problems with my connection. Hope you figure this out.
BoomerCPO Posted August 11, 2009 #3 Posted August 11, 2009 Yep....They have been hacked.....and its a good one too! Boomer......who's getting the same crap on his screen as well.
dynodon Posted August 11, 2009 Author #4 Posted August 11, 2009 Thanks for the replies, at least I know I am not alone on this.
RandyR Posted August 11, 2009 #5 Posted August 11, 2009 In many cases my virus blocker flags the advertisements that a site is linked to, rather than the site itself. Commercial sites frequently try to download software bits to people's computers. With all the fancy add-ons to web pages, its hard to differentiate useful and needed software from the intrusive and malicious.
Freebird Posted August 11, 2009 #6 Posted August 11, 2009 I hate to hear it. I know the pain and frustration such things can cause. We were hacked here a couple of times and it can take many late nights to get things fixed again. Just tried to go there and it was blocked for me also.
Eck Posted August 11, 2009 #7 Posted August 11, 2009 Probably Yamaha hired hackers who were hired to go in and mess up the sites to yamaha manuals and repair information on their bikes.......
Sideoftheroad Posted August 11, 2009 #8 Posted August 11, 2009 If it was hacked, do you think the admins from the other forum blocked it, to get fixed what needs to be fixed?
SilvrT Posted August 11, 2009 #9 Posted August 11, 2009 No problems accessing them from my location and I tried with 3 different browsers.
Pegasus1300 Posted August 11, 2009 #10 Posted August 11, 2009 comes up blocked for me as well. I use Firefox but will try IE.
juggler Posted August 11, 2009 #11 Posted August 11, 2009 Probably Yamaha hired hackers who were hired to go in and mess up the sites to yamaha manuals and repair information on their bikes....... Well if that was the case they would have to attack my personal servers since I'm hosting the PDF files. I double dog dare them to hack my servers. If they do I won't buy the new VMax! (And yes, I get hits to those manuals from that 'other' site all the time. They never even asked permission.)

Guest Oldsalt Posted August 11, 2009 #13 Posted August 11, 2009 I just logged in without any problems. Running Vista Home Premium 64 and using 64 bit IE. oldsalt
juggler Posted August 11, 2009 #14 Posted August 11, 2009 I just logged in without any problems. Running Vista Home Premium 64 and using 64 bit IE. oldsalt Then you may have just been attacked by a virus. It is a stealth attack and unless you have software on your computer to alert you and/or block the attack you are doomed. This type of attack does not require you do do anything other than visit the site.

dynodon Posted August 25, 2009 Author #17 Posted August 25, 2009 I am still getting the warnings from google. Even if I "ignore" the warnings and go in the site, I am unable to post anything or use the "contact" feature to communicate. Is there some way I can stop the Google warnings or does anyone have a direct e-mail to anyone at the Venturers site? I wonder if they still know they have a problem, or if they can help me stop the warnings on my computer? Thanks for the help, and for understanding about the "other" site being of value also.
FJR Rider Posted August 25, 2009 #18 Posted August 25, 2009 Actually...not hacked...two problems, one with Google and one with Firefox. No more details to share.
