A friend of mine has a 86 Goldwing 1200 Interstate and his seat padding is gone. The seat looks good on the outside, but the inside padding is shot. He is setting on the metal seat pan which is very uncomfortable. He has looked on eBay, but had no luck. Does anyone has any suggestions on a good fix that doesn't break the bank?

Look for foam from somebody who does upholstery or at your local fabric store.

It comes in lots of thicknesses and firmness, so you can stack different types to get the feel you want.

I am not an expert, but also don't let your local people snow you as to what is available........

Skid,

The GL1200 really had a thick seat on it. If he is setting on the pan, I would suggest that someone has been in there and cut the stock milded foam down for someone who is really inseamed chanllenged.

You can always check the 'butt buffer seat insert kits'.

They're easy enough to trim & probably comfortable I haven't tried this brand, myself.

However, I got my wife a gel cushion [top cover] & she can do many more miles per day.

An idea to check out anyway: The site has info, size charts, warranty, etc.

Scroll down to the yellow pics.
