New way to get parts really cheap

First, decide what parts are needed for the job. Such as the electronic climate controle module for an Expedition. Next, check the dealer pricing. List is $713.00 and discount on-line is about $553.00. Local junkyards want about $110-150. All of this is way too expensive. So, wait until about 2AM and go to Lonestarmedics house. Pop out the door lock on his Expedition and tear his controller out and just chop the wires and vaccum tubes. Yep, believe it or not my truck was broken into for that purpose alone!!! I had to go get a used unit and have them chop the harness out of the wrecked vehicle. Then spice the wiring, run a new set of vaccum tubes and replace fuse. Ordered a lock cylinder and need to get it keyed. I alway thought this neighborhood was decent. I guess too decent since we have the right vehicles. I have anti-theft but no screaming siren. Going to fix that. We have wanted to move and have been waiting for a short sale. Now we just want to get out of town. Thanks for reading, just needed to vent. We need property with about 150 yards clear around the edges. Should be able to lead a robber on foot with a .308 with that!!!!!

 

Yes, comprehensive deductible $500.00 and the repair was under $$200.00 New dash harness, controller, and labor almost $3000.00.

Man, i feel for you. we decided a several years ago to drive used vehicles and not wash them. no one parks near us. even family. my beatup 94 toyota little pick has no new dings or even a washme written in the dust in the many years i have owned it.

 

We live in the country on 3 acres with rice fields all around us. my shotgun is always handy. our Yammy RSV is the most expensive vehicle we own.

I know exactly how you feel. I had a van stolen last year. Turned up a few days later with some damage and an empty gas tank. Had it fixed and still driving it today. Only problem is when ever I park it anywhere, I always wonder if it will be there when I come back to it.

ya, my mom's car was stolen a few years back. it was an 85 buick century. i mean, it was an alright car, but seriously? you are willing to go to jail for a 20+ year old car with a ripped passenger seat? give me a freaking break!

 

i can't believe the levels people are willing to stoop to these days. all i can say is i'm real glad i live outside of town, and even the town i live outside of is a tiny farming community.

 

although, i do miss being able to get pizza delivered.

I am having trouble finding it but recently saw a video of an older lady in TX with a handgun that she carries with her in case her car gets broken into.

 

She is the original owner of a 70's Ford something with like over 200k miles. When it came to get things fixed she always bought with lifetime warranties. So she pays for very little when it comes to maintenance at this point.

 

If I find the video, I'll post it, but hate to break into her car.

We have been shopping for a rural haven. This just made it a priority. My new plan includes car alarms, a fence, house security system and my 3 S plan:

Smith and Wesson, Sturm Ruger, and Sig Sauer. This will be augmented my old friends Para-Ordnance and Mr. Mossburg. Supervising the security is my grandfather's old Savage 311 double barrel 12 gauge.

 

The truck is back in one piece now and looks as if mothing happened. However, I find myself jumping at every noise at night. I originally came from a small town in Ohio and was used to a total lack of locks and problems. Coming to San Antonio I did lock my vehicles and house. Guess that isn't enough with today's economy.

I feel for ya. It's just that kind of stuff that made me move away from Columbus. (OH)

I have a bit of a commute, but my drive's 750' long...can't see the house from the road. I rarely feel a need to lock up, but sometimes still do. There's not too many urban areas where I'd feel secure these days. It's really sad that many of us feel the only answer is to get away, but what else can ya do?

We've all had things stolen, and it makes you feel violated, but this too will pass.

When you get your alarm go ahead and get it with the remote start and 2 way comm. Its great to hear the remote start beeping if the alarm is going off and your inside a store or something and can't hear it. Those hot days are great too, Just hit start a couple of minutes before you get to the car and its already cooling or heating. I've put in a few of them so if you need help just holler..
