BUT I will take the Venture out on Tuesday (first leg 1200+ miles in one sitting) then we will attend the banquet on wendsday. Now the fun starts. From there to Reseda Over night, Then on to San Jose Up 101. Over Night. From there to Elko Nv Over Night On to Rock springs Wy Over Night. Next stop Colorado springs. Over Night. On to Amarillo Over Night. Last day back home in Beautiful Lipan Tx. About 3900 miles in ten days or so. Don't do the math we will use all ten days but don't know yet where we may spend more than one day. Any sugestions are appreciated. Near certain to spend at least an extra day in Colorado Springs. Pikes peak, Royal Gorge, Garden of the Gods. Hell May take Twelve Days who Can say.:Venture::dancefool:

From Elko, you could veer north and go through Yellowstone and over Beartooth Pass. Both a well worth the time (or extra time).

Either way be safe and if you need something in SLC, let us know.

Herb,

You gotta do Beartooth Pass.

About a month ago, someone on this site talked about, so on our way home from the Canadian Rockies, two weeks ago, we decided to try it!!!!! It's unreal!!!

Hubby liked it so much, we signed up for the Cody Roundup and will be driving 2 days out there just to go back to Beartooth!!!

It's a howl!!!!!!

Here's a map showing a number of rides around the Cody, WY area we'll be going to in September, including Beartooth Pass.

If you get to Beartooth Pass through Yellowstone, you exit the park through the NE entrance/exit (Cooke City). You'll ride through the Lamar Valley, home of a huge herd of Buffalo. Don't be surprised if you have to stop while they are crossing the road.

If Dawn will go for it Bear tooth it is. I am truley excited about this trip.:dancefool:But how cold will it be this time of year?:cold: One website said you can some times get snow in August. I may withhold that small tidbit of info from Dawn. Think she might get cross threaded over it? I don"t want one of these:buttkick:.

We rode over Beartooth in July 2007. It rained on the way east and we were warm enough with our rain gear (watch out for the 737 sized mosquitos) and it was sunny on the way back west a couple of days later. Again we were warm enough in a sweatshirt for me and a leather jacket for my son.

Check the weather just before hand and be prepared for cooler temps.

Deb- how was it just recently?

We were there a couple weeks ago and all I had on was my leathers. (Chaps and jackets)

It probably was cooler than I thought, but I was sweatin' thinkin' about grizzly's chasin' us!!!

Dawns gotta be back at the hospital and working on Thursday so plans must be curtailed. Whine...:95:

Sorry you won't be able to make it this trip. Stash the info in the back of your mind and plan on another trip.

Have a great trip though!
