Yammer Dan Posted August 5, 2009 #26 Posted August 5, 2009 Nice Pic though Squeeze. How would you like to wake up and see THAT peeking over the ridgeline at you?? Be a skip the coffee morning!!!
PBJ Posted August 5, 2009 #27 Posted August 5, 2009 Hate to see what happens if they come out with three humper camels..... What No V4 camels over there. How barbarian!
Squeeze Posted August 5, 2009 #28 Posted August 5, 2009 No thanks ... I prefer to have my Morning Coffee in peace and quiet.
Poledar Posted August 5, 2009 #29 Posted August 5, 2009 Margaret, I'm glad he got there ok, and that the clock is ticking already. Can he receive email there or is that a no-no? If he can, what address should we use....VR.org, or another? Give him my best and tell him that we are all waiting to hear that his weapons are doing their thing supporting our troops! Poledar:Venture:
stardbog Posted August 5, 2009 #30 Posted August 5, 2009 Well as far as I know it's now 355 to go. He started counting down when he got to Kuwait. As long as all goes well he should be coming home at the end of that time. We are dealing with the military and if it takes as long to leave as it did to get there only God knows when he'll be back. I'll find out more as time goes on. Margaret Mini, Dont worry, at last you have vee on the fridge, where jeff is left'em.
Gray Ghost Posted August 6, 2009 #31 Posted August 6, 2009 "Puff the Magic Dragon" Grandfather of the Apache?? That was a sight!!! 18,000 rounds per minute!!! I never got a chance to see a Puff in action personally, but I can tell you when you are stuck somewhere feeling like a pinata at a big party, having an Apache come screaming overhead close enough to high five the pilot and then hanging around to drop the wrath of God on anybody that looks like they are thinking of messing with you is awesome.
mini-muffin Posted August 6, 2009 Author #32 Posted August 6, 2009 Well he called and forgot to have his mailing addy with him. He paid for internet, but they are waiting for the IT folks to show up and hook them up. They also said they may transfer some folks. I'm hoping he just stays there. I don't know where the two places they mentioned are. Of course now I can't remember what they were either. I'll keep you all informed as we go. I'll post his mailing addy as soon as he remembers to give it to me. Margaret
1BigDog Posted August 6, 2009 #33 Posted August 6, 2009 Dont blame him, its the heat factor......:scorched:
Iowawegian Posted August 6, 2009 #34 Posted August 6, 2009 Just to let you know I'm thinking of you. We always thank the people that serve our country, but sometimes the spouses are forgotten about. It can't be easy and I just wanted to say thanks for your service also. Thoughts and prayers are with you!
mini-muffin Posted August 7, 2009 Author #35 Posted August 7, 2009 Well just to keep up with the updates. His internet is up and running now. At least it was before he went to bed. He's 8 hrs ahead of us. He also got himself a bicycle to ride around base. Seems the walking was too much for him. Might be a skinny muffinman when he gets home. So we should see some posts hopefully from him soon. Margaret
Squidley Posted August 8, 2009 #36 Posted August 8, 2009 Thanks for the updates Mini, he's in our thoughts too
Dano Posted August 8, 2009 #37 Posted August 8, 2009 He also got himself a bicycle to ride around base. Seems the walking was too much for him. Might be a skinny muffinman when he gets home. Margaret Yea, sure, he'll have an Apache jet engine adapted to that thing by next week. I can't see that belly going anywhere! Glad he's finally getting settled in.
mini-muffin Posted August 10, 2009 Author #38 Posted August 10, 2009 Well figured I better update folks on the muffinman. He's turning wrenches now. He had a couple of Marines come up to him and ask if he could fix their Harrier. Not sure it he'll be allowed, but evidently even in Afghanistan it doesn't take long for folks to figure Jeff's around. So I guess I'll find out later if he's gonna get to fix the Marines Harrier. Guess it won't be long before he's fixing them camels too. Salty might be right by the time he leaves nothing will need fixing. Margaret
