The Black Pearl Posted July 31, 2009 #1 Posted July 31, 2009 Ok guys here's my question, I got a stealer putting on a new warranty rear shock and got to talking about carb sync, poping and rk muffs. He's telling me I HAVE to rejet the carbs and I am looking at 300 - 350 to have it done. Pretty sure I read many post about rk muffs and NOT re jetting, so I guess I am looking for your opinions? road king muff's to rejet or not?
BIG TOM Posted July 31, 2009 #2 Posted July 31, 2009 I have road kings on my 05...no rejet ...no popping...
Bloodbought1 Posted July 31, 2009 #4 Posted July 31, 2009 no rejet no popping May need to sync carbs tho.
BOO Posted July 31, 2009 #5 Posted July 31, 2009 I don't think you need to rejet. Going to make it to rich I'm thinking. Did you read the article about rejetting under second Generation bikes? BOO
BoomerCPO Posted July 31, 2009 #6 Posted July 31, 2009 Re-jet mah left foot.............And yer gonna trust that fool to work on your scoot? Boomer.....who knows a lot of Dealers who are nothing more than rocks with lips and out to rob ya blind.
Renne Posted July 31, 2009 #7 Posted July 31, 2009 My experience,,,NEVER,NEVER,NEVER let your "stealer" log any mods you've done if still under warranty! If I need warranty work done, I take the extra 20 minutes and re-install my oem muffs....just play'in it safe,,,no need to discuss or tip your hand to chance a warranty cancellation! I gots RKs on,,no pops, plugs just nice light tan! Love em' Ride Easy (n' smart!) Renne
The Black Pearl Posted July 31, 2009 Author #8 Posted July 31, 2009 Thanks guys well my local "trusted" stealer just closed up after 19 years the other day and this place is the next closest stealer my warranty is up next month so just trying to get the shock replaced at this point. gonna have to either build or find someone in mi with a carb sync tool would like to sync them up right thanks again
99silver Posted July 31, 2009 #9 Posted July 31, 2009 Try plugging the AIS, there will be links in the tech section. should take care of the popping.
SilvrT Posted July 31, 2009 #10 Posted July 31, 2009 I put RK's on mine and after a while, I found a carb sync made a world of difference ... re-jet??? HA! they just want to take ya for some cash ... it ain't needed!
raceman62race Posted July 31, 2009 #11 Posted July 31, 2009 I've got about 5000 miles on a set of RK mufflers with stock jets....no problems at all.
