Freebird Posted July 30, 2009 #1 Posted July 30, 2009 Well folks, I finally got an opportunity today to really take a good look at the Victory Vision. I was in Toledo, OH and stopped by Honda East in Maumee, OH to see if they had a trunk bag for the RSV. They sell Honda, Yamaha, Victory....I don't remember what else. They didn't have the trunk bag but they did have a new Vision inside and a demo sitting outside. I didn't ask to take it for a ride but I did sit on it and started it up. First impression was the same one I've already had and that was "WOW...this thing is really ugly". Second impression was when I sat on it and I have to say that it felt very comfortable. Ergonomics felts really good, seat felt great, lot's of room. Third....I lifted it off the side stand and thought WOW...this thing is really well balanced. It almost stands up by itself. Apparently a very low center of gravity and I'm thinking that it would handle very well. Fourth...saddle bags look HUGE until you open them. What a disappointment though when you do open them. About the size of a decent sized automobile glove compartment. I don't know WHAT they were thinking. Fifth..stereo sounds GREAT. Bigger speakers than the RSV and really sounds nice. Sixth..started it up and you can certainly tell that it's a V-Twin. Vibration is not as bad as a Harley but it certainly does vibrate. I actually like the vibration though as I do with the Harley. Probably smooths out nicely at speed. Lastly...WOW...it sure is ugly. Sorry...but regardless of the few positives...I just don't think I would ever be able to get over the ugly.
Mariner Fan Posted July 30, 2009 #2 Posted July 30, 2009 You nailed my impressions exactly. The lack of space in the saddlebags and the overall looks soured me to the bike. Too bad because it has potential.
waterbug Posted July 30, 2009 #3 Posted July 30, 2009 I would love to ride one!! I really like them they look more futuristic and nothing on the road like them. If the price was what I paid for my venture I think I would have bought one. But I couldnt beat the venture for the buck!! What one person likes the next person wont I guess!
Scooter Posted July 30, 2009 #4 Posted July 30, 2009 What I like most about how the Vision looks is when viewed from the front, it looks like a Psycho 'Bozo the Clown'.
buddy Posted July 30, 2009 #5 Posted July 30, 2009 Me & Colesgrandpa seen one at the Hub not long ago. Was talking to the guy who owned it and he said it was a beauty. I almost started laughing but I wanted to be nice so I left for a moment then returned and looked again. You know after I looked real close I changed my mind it not ugly, its well how do I put it. Its Butt Ugly:moon:
Scooter Bob Posted July 30, 2009 #6 Posted July 30, 2009 I road one last summer. Does ride and handle very nice. Loved that left thumb rocker switch to run the windshield up or down a few inches. But there is no way I could give up the room and convienience of the top loading bags. I thougt the trunk was quite a bit smaller too. Oh ya, Karen said she could never, never, never, get over the looks, but I already have. I would consider it a viable option if the luggage room was there. Just my .02, Scooter Bob P.S. Freebird, you should have rode it, at least a little, you get a free T shirt. Karen even got one for watching me ride the thing, even after she had told the saleman what she thought of the looks of it.
Aussie Annie Posted July 30, 2009 #7 Posted July 30, 2009 Hey Guys, Alan took one on a test ride a while back, and he was surprised at the handling. Especially around bends and round-a-bouts, as you come out of the curve it just sits up real nice BUT You can't get past "UGLY" and no room in the side panniers
GaThumper Posted July 30, 2009 #8 Posted July 30, 2009 I don't see myself ever owning one, but the tip over protection was pretty cool! BradT Posted July 30, 2009 #9 Posted July 30, 2009 I too looked at few recently had similar thoughts as you. I did ride a couple of other models with the 100 cu in engine not the 106 but the engine is pretty decent. Seems that it needed a few Rpm's to feel the power, but they would get up and go. One thing that was impressive on the Vision was the dealer dropped it on its side and it did not tip over. Those large foot pegs front and rear hold it up real nice, then he just sat side saddled on the seat and talked to us. He then picked it up like nothing. Should have went on the Demo ride but did not because Not sure I could own one (Can't get over the looks) Brad
snarf Posted July 30, 2009 #10 Posted July 30, 2009 Took one out for a spin last month had a stage one kit pipes & injection. A lot of power ran it up to 100 still pulled hard and yes it is faster than first or second GEN rsv. Liked everything about the bike except the ugly factor.
jfoster Posted July 30, 2009 #11 Posted July 30, 2009 I've always heard that the polaris atv's did not have the quality or durability as the hondas and yamahas. I would suspect, their motorcycles are probably in the same category. I've also heard that they have alot vibration at hwy speeds.
Yammer Dan Posted July 30, 2009 #12 Posted July 30, 2009 I sat on one and had a hard time walking away from it. That Tip Over thing is really nice. And I guess I'm a little strange but I don't think its ugly. I have "Ugly" in the driveway!!
bugfish69 Posted July 30, 2009 #13 Posted July 30, 2009 with the 2010 Cross Country Model. Now they need to fix the price part. http://z.about.com/d/motorcycles/1/7/g/k/-/-/CrossCountry_Cherry.jpg
beyeker Posted July 30, 2009 #14 Posted July 30, 2009 I bought a new 2002 Victory Touring Cruiser in Jan. of 2003. I put 31500 miles on it in less than 2 years and sold it to a buddy of mine. It performed flawless for me, and has for him. Thier quality is one of the highest in the industry. When I heard they were coming out with a full dresser I figured it was my next bike, I think I had my 2004 Venture at the time. I, as most people, won't buy one because of the looks.
Tartan Terror Posted July 30, 2009 #15 Posted July 30, 2009 Don you got the ugly part right!!! I wanted to rent one this past weekend in AZ. We did 700 miles on our trip and my buddy who is a Harley nut would not let me get anything other than a Harley ultra. BTW Im glad I dont own one!!! Anyway on the way back to Pheonix from the Canyon we stop to eat and there was a Vision outside so I picked out the rider and talked to him for a while. He too thought it was ugly but the ride is unmatched. He had the trunk off and that did help the look alot. Still wish I had been able to ride one but next time.
FreezyRider Posted July 30, 2009 #16 Posted July 30, 2009 with the 2010 Cross Country Model. Now they need to fix the price part. http://z.about.com/d/motorcycles/1/7/g/k/-/-/CrossCountry_Cherry.jpg WOW!!! ME LIKEY!!! Wonder what size the fuel tank is. Doesn't look that big. Wonder what she'd look like with a 2nd Gen trunk bolted on? Hmmmmmm
PBJ Posted July 30, 2009 #17 Posted July 30, 2009 (edited) I can't call them ugly . they are just very different and truly unique. At least they don't look like everything else, thats for sure. You know one when you see it theres no," Is that a harley or a jap bike". Oddly the gas tanks are high and in the front fairing but the bike is still so balanced. In fact that was my brothers and my impression when we sat in a few at Americade. So light ! Edited July 30, 2009 by PB&J
keithert Posted July 30, 2009 #18 Posted July 30, 2009 I think they look kind of like a modernized 1st gen Venture from the side. If it weren't that I've given up on faired bikes I'd consider one. Their new models really look nice though, except for the price. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/epic_mcy/250/83_venture_250.jpg http://tbn0.google.com/images?q=tbn:HP63CONAb7UmAM:http://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/Gallery%2520C/Victory%2520Vision%2520Street.jpg

FreezyRider Posted July 30, 2009 #22 Posted July 30, 2009 thems fighten words pardner!:missingtooth: Notice my post at the top of the page.....I said I LIKE IT!!!
slick97spirit Posted July 30, 2009 #23 Posted July 30, 2009 They look so dang long! Be like backing a semi out of a parking spot.
RTR Posted July 30, 2009 #24 Posted July 30, 2009 i saw... but i just get real protective and defensive when it comes to my baby! :missingtooth:
