a1bummer Posted September 18, 2007 #26 Posted September 18, 2007 Howzabout a list of, oh maybe 50 trivia questions related to Star, Yamaha or motorcycles in general. First one in with 50 correct answers wins. Some that come to mind... This company dropped the "r" from motorcycle and used Motocycle in their name for 30 years. What was the name of the first Honda motorcycle What kind of motorcycle did Ponch and John ride in CHiPs? Etc. Moto Cycle Corporation? Honda 50? 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R
halfwitt Posted September 18, 2007 #27 Posted September 18, 2007 Moto Cycle Corporation? Honda 50? 1978 Kawasaki Z1-R Nope to all 3!
Freebird Posted September 18, 2007 Author #28 Posted September 18, 2007 Indian Motorcycle dropped the "R" in 1923. What do I win?
halfwitt Posted September 18, 2007 #29 Posted September 18, 2007 Indian Motorcycle dropped the "R" in 1923. What do I win? Ding Ding Ding - we have 1/3 of a winner...you win, um...how about, no my wife wouldn't like that...um, I'll go through the basement and see what I can find.
Freebird Posted September 18, 2007 Author #30 Posted September 18, 2007 If I remember correctly, Ponch and John road Kawasaki KZ1000 Police Specials.
Freebird Posted September 18, 2007 Author #31 Posted September 18, 2007 In November 1947, the 1/2 horsepower A-Type Honda was being manufactured and sold as a complete motorbike. Because the motorbike gave off a lot of smoke and a stench of turpentine it was known as the "Chimney".
Black Owl Posted September 18, 2007 #32 Posted September 18, 2007 And I thought they rode Motoguzzi's..............
Freebird Posted September 18, 2007 Author #33 Posted September 18, 2007 Well...I wasn't 100% sure about which model of Kawasaki they road, the 900 or the 1000...I just did some research and found that they actually used both. KZ-900P and KZ-1000P
halfwitt Posted September 18, 2007 #34 Posted September 18, 2007 My source says that the first Honda production bike was a "Dream". My source is not always right! And, Ponch and John did catch the bad guys on the 210 freeway on Kaw 1000's. Could be a good contest! Make people spend some time on the Internet doing some research. But these three questions were fun anyway.
halfwitt Posted September 18, 2007 #35 Posted September 18, 2007 Here is the Dream: http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=62 Maybe the Dream was the first imported Honda?
Gentleman George Posted September 18, 2007 #36 Posted September 18, 2007 Here is the Dream: http://www.motorcyclemuseum.org/classics/bike.asp?id=62 Maybe the Dream was the first imported Honda? Wow thanks, That brings back some memories, when i graduated from the "box scooters" I got a Honda Dream it was all black with white fiberglass saddle bags and a windshield. It was a great little bike to have in 1965.
Sailor Posted September 18, 2007 #37 Posted September 18, 2007 How about " What is the stupidest thing anyone has ever said to you about " 1) Motorcycles 2) Motorcycling 3) Motoryclists Could be a prize for each category, or just one overall category and prize.
Freebird Posted September 18, 2007 Author #38 Posted September 18, 2007 Nope, the first Honda was the one I listed above. The first Honda imported into the USA was the 1958 Honda C100 Super Cub.
Squidley Posted September 18, 2007 #39 Posted September 18, 2007 You guys are going to win the contest of who knows more about a Hondas on a Yamaha website
halfwitt Posted September 19, 2007 #40 Posted September 19, 2007 I won't argue. I am far from an expert. My wife says though that if anyone wants to know anything useless or irrelevant - ask me. It's just the important stuff I don't know.
Freebird Posted September 19, 2007 Author #41 Posted September 19, 2007 Actually, you may be right. I got my info here: http://smokeriders.com/History/Honda_History/body_honda_history.html According to the actual Honda site though, the first model was indeed the D-model Dream.

BuddyRich Posted September 21, 2007 #45 Posted September 21, 2007 OK, What's with the Bug on the screen in your SIG Monsta ??? We don't like bugs in computers...
GigaWhiskey Posted September 21, 2007 #46 Posted September 21, 2007 Monsta has me trying to wipe that bug off of my screen.
Marcarl Posted September 22, 2007 #48 Posted September 22, 2007 Yup, I fell for it too!! I almost did, but then remembered I'm in my shop and don't have bugs. Now I've been thinking, what can I do to get back at him. maybe we should have a contest to see who can bug him the worst.
MikeM8560 Posted September 22, 2007 #49 Posted September 22, 2007 How about picking 5 general places and 5 days. Each day you have to post a picture of you and your bike in front of that specific place. Kind of like a scavenger hunt. that one might be hard. Where am I?
Marcarl Posted September 22, 2007 #50 Posted September 22, 2007 Or how about an ALL SAINTS RIDE. We could do this over a period of time, say the 5 days mentioned earlier, and the post pictures of all the saints we have met. St. Petersburg St. George St. Louis St. ???????????????? We could include streets and towns.
