FuzzyRSTD Posted August 2, 2009 Author #26 Posted August 2, 2009 (edited) I know you said it's just money BUT I dont have much so I went with a refurbed Garmin 2720 off of eBay. $110, rugged, waterproof, readable outdoors, glove friendly and works great. No internal battery but bullet proof. Custom waypoints, records trips, exports and imports maps. Nice unit for the money. My 2cents.... http://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SnT6WJe92gI/AAAAAAAAC1E/0gElucl7rIY/s800/P8010619.JPGhttp://lh6.ggpht.com/_9EMyKcng_yA/SgcFULDy9SI/AAAAAAAAB8I/mrvrkKRSGRk/s640/P5100249.JPG Thanks albumny, I have decided to get one for the car and one for the bike. Maybe the Garmin 750, it has mp3 and headphone jack and looks and reads to be a fairly nice unit. On E-bay for $79.00 a piece refurbished with yr warranty. I would buy two for that price. After really giving it some thought, I would like to withdraw that quote about just money. As someone said I don't have that much either. I started working at a sawmill (hard work - low pay ) for the minium wage when I was 16 yr old and I do relise the value of a buck earned. After weighing the real need for one of these, I am going cheaper and using a sandwich bag... Oh Ya!! and thanks for the pictures too. Edited August 2, 2009 by FuzzyRSTD pics
Larry M Posted August 2, 2009 #27 Posted August 2, 2009 I've got a Garmin 350 nuvi that I've attached to my tank bra with two way tape between the tank and bra, then used hook and loop to attach the unit, very clean and no vibration, I've got a 2 gig SD card loaded with music and use the jack on the cassette to plug it into the sound system, put the audio selector on AUX and you'll be able to hear both the music and the navigation routing, I use the 12 volt adapter to plug into. you'll probably want to get a later unit than the 350, it doesn't do well as far as seeing in the bright sunlight! The audio from the nuvi works far better on my headset than the Cassette Player does! Larry M
ablumny Posted August 2, 2009 #28 Posted August 2, 2009 FuzzyRSTD; no prob. Happy to provide a different perspective!
FuzzyRSTD Posted August 3, 2009 Author #29 Posted August 3, 2009 Thanks to everyone for your help and imput. I thought I would let all know what I finally decided to order. I ordered the Garmin 750, it has the ear phone jacks and mp3 player all the bells that I need, Wallmart for $179.00 tax and all. Shipped to nearby store so no ship charge. The e-bay units went for around that price on bidding and they where refurbished. Wallmart unit is new. Thanks again, and like the idea of maybe attaching to tank bib with velcro tape...
loehring Posted August 4, 2009 #30 Posted August 4, 2009 I agree with you, I love the fact that I have bluetooth, xm radio, weather and mp3 all in one unit, with one set of wires. Makes for a clean set of handle bars. So far no issues with the Zumo 550, but I did upgrade firmware to 4.7 last night. Will be testing on bike shortly. I agree, very clean look. The bike has AM/FM/CB/Intercom/Cassette and the 550 has GPS/Traffic/Weather/XM Radio/MP3/Bluetooth/Trip Computer. I don't know of anything else that you can get that's not a complete distraction. It's all there with one waterproof unit
660grizz Posted August 14, 2009 #31 Posted August 14, 2009 Is it true the 550 doesn't output bluetooth mp3s in stereo?

FuzzyRSTD Posted August 15, 2009 Author #34 Posted August 15, 2009 I don,t have one but my wife tells me I,m going to get one or start asking directions and it a guy thing not to ask witch way do I go RonaldE:Cool_cool36: They are a nice piece of electronics to have Ronald. I purchased the Garmin 750 at Wally Worlrd for $ 179.00 on line, shipped to store, no shipping charge. It is brand new, not refurbished. I like it a lot so far. PROS; 1. I can see it, large letters and map on screen. 2. It has a nice mp3 player, that I can hear up to 40 mph. (I have Road house pipes, loud but not to loud) 3. It has a ear phone jack. 4. The mount that comes with it works perfect, just stick it to the chrome speedadometer cover, works perfect there. 5. Well worth the money. 6. Very good mount comes with it. 7. Power cord and computer hook up comes with it. 8. Easy to figure out. Cons; 1. Not loud enough to hear above 40 mph. (I have Road house pipes, loud but not to loud) 2. Not water proof, but not $ 500.00 - $ 700.00 either. 3. After charging battery, it last about three hours. (Need cig. plug on bike for power.) 4. You have to go to the webb to retrieve the owners manual.
660grizz Posted August 18, 2009 #35 Posted August 18, 2009 Guess I'll keep looking. Waterproof is a must have. I rarely, if ever, plan to ride in the rain but, pop up storms in the summer are always a possibility. If I can stop, put the GPS safely away before I continue in the rain, I probably didn't need it to begin with . Oh yea, the weather and traffic option would be nice. All for less than $500.
Jus Monkeyin Around Posted August 19, 2009 #36 Posted August 19, 2009 I just picked up a Garmin 780 real cheap shipped to the door for less than 200.00. it has msn direct live traffic and weather its cool and its bluetooth but not waterproof, just put a ziplock bag over it.
