a1bummer Posted July 24, 2009 #1 Posted July 24, 2009 Anybody have any good ideas on how to fix the gold chrome that's flaking off our old emblems? I tried some gold model paint but didn't like how it looked. I used Some Top Flite MonoKote Gold ChromeTrim, (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHX85&P=7), and it looks ok, but not as good as I would have liked. Not sure how well it will hold up to the weather, wind, and washing either.
Guest Ken8143 Posted July 25, 2009 #2 Posted July 25, 2009 Same problem and same rix and same lack of results.
MidlifeVenture Posted July 25, 2009 #3 Posted July 25, 2009 On my 81 wing I sanded them sooth spray painted them with gold chrome paint then used gloss black model paint and a fine brush and a pointy tooth pick to do the edges that were originally black and finished with a couple of coats of clear coat.
a1bummer Posted July 26, 2009 Author #4 Posted July 26, 2009 Looks good. I have some extras laying around. I'll have to try what you did and see how they look. Thanks.
gscbertrand Posted July 26, 2009 #5 Posted July 26, 2009 I bought a new set from yamaha about 5 seasons back when I put on the new paint, they looked great, until the first scratch.
