Marcarl Posted July 23, 2009 #1 Posted July 23, 2009 One of our very own VentureRiders made the front page. I would rather have carried on without all this BS, but the regulations being as they are, and the enforcement of them, has forced me into doing things that I would rather leave to others. But here I am, front page, and the stuggle goes on. Please take some time to post your comments. http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1668423&auth=MICHAEL-ALLAN%20MARION
Yammer Dan Posted July 23, 2009 #2 Posted July 23, 2009 Goverment!! Kind of leaves a Bad taste in your mouth sometimes don't it!!
rod Posted July 23, 2009 #3 Posted July 23, 2009 Hello I am from the Government and I am here to help you... Good luck the best sausage comes from the small shops. Rod
Sailor Posted July 23, 2009 #6 Posted July 23, 2009 We have had the same problem here on Saltspring. This is a rural area and for over 100 years the local farms produced the best smoked ham, bacon and sausage you could get. There were roadside stands where you could get farm fresh free range eggs and fresh vegetables. No one ever got sick, the farmers families were eating the same foods. Then, not too long ago the government closed them all down for "health " reasons. Total BS. They were doing better than the big chains, the food was healthier and tasted way better.
Sailor Posted July 23, 2009 #7 Posted July 23, 2009 I too have been on TV. Years ago they had a show called "Live It Up". I got on in the "Bug of the Week" segment. What bugged me was on packages of processed meat from outfits like Maple Leaf they stated "may contain meat by-products" I wanted to know what those were. When they called to arrange the taping they asked what I thought they were. I said " Lips and A$$h***s" They had a good laugh. They taped me in my cabin on Saltspring.
SilvrT Posted July 23, 2009 #8 Posted July 23, 2009 Just like in big business, it's generally some "pencil-pusher" that defines policy and has no real idea of the impact. It seems to me that a lot of the diseases such as mad cow, ecoli, and so on come from the "mega producers" ... so why isn't the government clamping down on them more??? (politics and payoffs)
kenw Posted July 23, 2009 #9 Posted July 23, 2009 Just another way of forcing out the little guy! Do they want you to use all the presevatives and c*** like the big boys, or still allow you to produce a quality product. I personally try to patronize the Mom and Pops whenever posiible!
