Herb In Texas Posted July 21, 2009 Author #26 Posted July 21, 2009 I guess its time to dismiss the jury. Will remain with the venture! Heck still got 4 years waranty left anyhow. Thanks ya'll for the slap back to reality. I did do some other on-line reserch at Victory owners group and most of the posts are about increasing performance. goes to show what folks here have said is true. I have NO issues with the Venture, but I am kinda like a crow, see somthing shiney and different, well you know. Thanks Again , Herb:Venture:
Shamue Posted July 21, 2009 #27 Posted July 21, 2009 Victory mades some nice motorcycles, but after test riding several found for a touring machince they have a ways to go to get the confort of a RSV. The Victory you are inquiring about is very clumsy. It is wide bodied, very long and I'm 6'3" and it was hard to back into parking spots. I would get very tired having to man handle the thing every time I wanted to park and back in. Because of it's mass low speed is not much fun either. I did like the ride on the road, mountain curves would take some more getting used to. Then as mentioned being air cooled I could feel some heat build up around my legs I think was more from the side covers getting warm than the engine heat itself. There wasn't enough there to make me really want one other than the styling. When I test ride a MC, I ride the one I am looking at getting a couple of times and in between I ride my bike so I can compair the difference without getting the instant new ride buzz that can ware off quickly on and new mc and the new mc not really having the long term ride I thought it would. I really feel that motorcyles are an individual choise and after a couple of test rides and you put one through the paces if it's what you want, GO FOR IT. 2 wheels are always better than 4.
eusa1 Posted July 21, 2009 #28 Posted July 21, 2009 here is my take on the bike, after a 2 hour test ride. power: plenty handling: great at low speeds, scary poor at highway speeds comfort: great for driver, poor for passenger controles: easy to operate trans: noisey appearance: ODD. storage: poor trade value: poor the nutshell answer: if you want a city cruiser, stop light to stop light power, great low speed handling bike, you ride alone and don't take much stuff with you, noisey shifting, and want a bike that will turn heads, and plan to never trade it for another brand........this bike is for you. did i mention odd?? i got the feeling that when others said it was ugly, that upset you.. so i left ugly out of my report. and didn't say what way the heads would turn. mike
