Not looking for trouble just honest opinions. I am currantly mounted up on an 08 Venture. But went to a PGR meet and greet at Strokers in Dallas this past saturday. They are a Victory dealer, Big Dog, and a few others I imagine. Anyway went inside the show room to "just Look" guess what caught my eye, (the gals too)? The Victory Vision Tour Premium. Looks like a sweet ride. Big, Bold, Futuristic, and maybe just too sweet to pass on. I don't know. I love my venture. 40k+ in a year. But this vision is just freekin cool. so heres the questions.

Anybody Rode one? Opinions please.

Anybody bought one? After the honey moon thoughts.

Anybody thinking like me but afraid to trade a devil you know for one you don't?

Be honest and constructive, 23k and change as is on the dealer floor. I know thats a cosiderable bit more than our beloved Ventures do you think the value is there? I read a few on line reviews and the bike has recieved a better than favorable rating. Kicked the snot out of the Ultra.

was not rated against the Venture that I could find.

what will I be giving up going from the V 4 to a V twin. seems to make the same horse power +or- but the torque seem to be a bit more.

Thanks

I was there last year and sat on one. Really liked the look, seems pretty positive responses from the owners, but I couldn't justify the price tag over what I have.

I have ridden one and they do well on torque power but no top end. Air cooled means hotter conditions especially with all their fairing and such. My biggest turn off was the diminutive saddle bags and trunk. And they look to futuristic for me. I will ride my 02 RSMV until somebody makes a better motorcycle. I have 112,000 miles and I am still grinning from it all.

Me and the wife rode one around for a few hours back in May. It is a nice bike we both liked and disliked some things but nothing serious enough you couldn't get over them. It is not as smooth or as comfortable as the venture. Would I ride one, yes would I buy a new one, no keep what you have and enjoy it. Eveyone has their opinion there's mine. There is alot of bikes out there I would like to have but just wouldn't buy them new my :2cents:.

that is the one that looks like they welded a car door on the front, and stole a late 50's caddy's fins for the rear, right?

Yes, I test rode one 2-up. Sorta feels like a luxury car ... easy to maneouver ... has good power ... comfortable (for me).

Wind buffeting and uncomfortable for Nina ... tried raising/lowering the windshield... didn't help.

The passenger footrests were too high for her ... and ya can't lower them nohow.

I wouldn't buy one because .... (scroll down)

A friend of mine was ready to trade his old Kaw Voyager and was jonesing for a Vision. He went to the dealer and test rode one. He hated the ergos and handling. When he took it back and told the dealer the dealer said for him to give the Kingpin Tourer a test ride. He bought that one on the spot and has praised it ever since. His wife who rides with him almost always doesn't care for it. She said that the Voyager was a lot more comfortable for her.

Rider magazine will have a test, Vision, Venture, Voyager, and an HD coming up here in the next few issues if you can wait that long. I've seen the basic Vision Tour on Cycletrader.com for (I believe) 16K.

My biggest question is the heat as it's air cooled. I'm not a big twin fan and even though I like thinking out of the box, I'm not crazy about the design, it is a bold step though. I guess you'll really have to take one for an extended ride and see the quirks on it.

Hey Herb, Been a couple years but I had a job offer at a Victory Dealer. Did my homework to learn their products and Reviews by Current Owners. Most liked the handling at slow speeds, but they Really Disliked when passing a semi, said it was horrible no matter where the windshield was for rider or passenger, just blew you all around at any speed passing. Other than that most thought the bike was okay. Overall satisfaction, most said they would have rather bought something else for the money.

I like all bikes, would own one of each if I had the money. But when I researched all the bikes out there, the RSV kept comming out on top. Good Luck with your choice Herb, Later-

I wouldn't shoot you, but I'm not above walking around shaking my head and chuckling.

THAT IS THE FUGLIEST BIKE I HAVE EVER SEEN, ANYWHERE!

But I guess at least one person must share your opinion - I saw one on the road once; danged near fell of my Venture laughing at it!

I have to agree with what I've seen here. The bike is cool and when it first came out I was really interested but there were too many little things that bothered me. No saddle bad storage space, air cooled engine, no top end, typical frame mounted fairing issues with buffeting and interstate passing and something just didn't feel right when I sat on it. I know a couple people who bought them and they seem to like them although when you talk to them about the bike they just say they're happy with it. No real elaboration. That always made me think maybe they were justifying and didn't want to say what they really felt. maybe it's just me but I'll talk about the RSV all day.

I think your bike needs to make a statement about you. Plenty of people ride what they kind of git stuck with but if you can afford a new bike get the one that's you. The RSMV is me but the Vision just wasn't.

I agree, so that means either no Vision, or no beard,,,,now that's a thought.

I AM REALLY, REALLY HAPPY WITH MY 02 RSMV. With over 112,000 miles it runs perfect and is cool on the body. My wife told me I could buy a new bike if I wanted...I said "what for I have the best bike I have ever owned"...in fifty years of riding.

All I can say is Don't Ride It!. Lonestarmedic says it rides pretty nice, and we saw a naked one when the victory truck came to town, The frame is a work of art, But it is on the scary ugly side:173:

I saw a red one go by the Coffee Shop on Saturday. Had to look twice cuz I was trying to see what the heck the guy had strapped on over the rear fender....of course it was the TRUNK!

I'll stick with my Midnight Venture thank ya very much.

Boomer.....who thinks that even if the color was black that Victory would still bring roadkill back to life.....:happy34:

Rode one a couple months ago. Not bad at all one up. Electric windshield is pretty cool. However, the saddlebags are TINY and really not very practical. Also, the wife was VERY uncomfortable the saddlebags were in entirely the wrong spot and she was basically "on" them when riding.

The looks were a bit much for me too and the combination helped my decision. Victory has a very good reputation re owner satisfaction, however with all else being considered I just couldn't go for the vision. Also, I had found a Tour Premium for $19K....If you want one SHOP online!!

The saddlebags wouldn't even hold a shaving kit. How are you gonna pack for 2 with just a trunk. Heck, they wouldn't even hold a tool set and some rags for cleaning the scoot. Yea, I think it is UGLY too....
