V7Goose Posted July 21, 2009 Author #27 Posted July 21, 2009 It figures a rush of orders would wake 'em up, but the revised offer is still very good. I can understand their dilemma - the sales would cost them money, but they DID have plenty of time to correct the error on their web site after my initial order. It was only after I saw they weren't going to correct it that I posted the information here. Goose
capn eddie Posted July 21, 2009 #28 Posted July 21, 2009 got the same email and canceled my order don't need them that bad. More money to spend on other items i do need.
Squidley Posted July 21, 2009 #29 Posted July 21, 2009 got the same email and canceled my order don't need them that bad. More money to spend on other items i do need. Same here...such is life
BuddyRich Posted July 21, 2009 #30 Posted July 21, 2009 Yea, I just ordered about 15 more shims to help bring the stock back up. Now I did find a shim exchange place on the web. They charge about the same price as these guys. 3 bucks a shim to exchange them.

BuddyRich Posted July 21, 2009 #32 Posted July 21, 2009 Yours is so old if we try to remove the shims they'll probably crack and fall out.
Guest HdHtr Posted July 21, 2009 #33 Posted July 21, 2009 Yours is so old if we try to remove the shims they'll probably crack and fall out. Well, it ain't old ... it is ... mature and low mileage!! All but 3 of the shims been in there for only 17 or 18 years ... You wouldn't happen to have a BIG magnet??
Snaggletooth Posted July 21, 2009 #34 Posted July 21, 2009 Well Damn! Just got my e-mail. Came close on that one. $60.00 is still a smoking deal but the I liked the first price better. LOL!
RedRider Posted July 21, 2009 #35 Posted July 21, 2009 Yup, I got my email also. Bought them anyway. It was still a really good price. RR
BigSexxy Posted July 21, 2009 #36 Posted July 21, 2009 Well I missed out on that one. Anyone in NC got a kit that wants to adjust on a weekend? Or allow a guy to borrow one???
RandyR Posted July 22, 2009 #38 Posted July 22, 2009 I got the same email. I'll still order a lesser number of shims so will have a kit and tool here in Georgia. The 25mm shims are also what my Triumph uses.
V7Goose Posted July 29, 2009 Author #39 Posted July 29, 2009 I guess they are just pissed at me for posting the information - they just canceled my order for more shims without ever even bothering to send me an email like y'all got or offering me a discounted price! Now I don't feel bad at all about getting that first shim kit for $6! Goose
Venturous Randy Posted July 29, 2009 #40 Posted July 29, 2009 I guess I am real lucky. We have a local independent shop that has a free exchange thing. He has a bunch of trays of shims and you get what you need and put your used one back in the correct tray. RandyA
RandyR Posted July 29, 2009 #41 Posted July 29, 2009 I replied to Shawn at Preferred Powersports of Syracuse stating I still wanted 1 kit and about 10 singles. Additionally I ordered a set of passing lamps and mounting bar. I paid by Paypal, and the payment in paypal hasn't been collected by them yet. I hadn't heard anything back from them in a week, so I just called. Shawn is not there. I spoke with a lady Erin who said she was familiar with the situation. She stated that there were over 50 orders for the shim kits, and that they intended to honor the reduced price quoted in the email to us (those of us that got a letter anyway, I didn't ask about Goose's previous comment). Erin said she would investigate if I would forward to her my response to Shawn. So I did that and will wait to hear back from her. Erin@preferredpowersports.com Customer Service Phone:315-699-2592
N3FOL Posted July 29, 2009 #42 Posted July 29, 2009 I know Ponch has offered me his Shim Kit once I am ready to use it. I will keep you in mind. Thanks again Ponch. Just out of curiosity, I inquired on the Price of the Shim Kit from Preferred Powersports. The item # of the Shim Kit is KL13-7005 and with a 10% discount for a total price of $106.15. (It was a little hard for me to believe V7Goose's initial post on the price of a kit) I just had a feeling it was a typo error on their website...As for the Shim Bucket tool, it is item # P517 for a price of $11.95 each. Kit comes with 2 each of the ff sizes: 2.30, 2.40, 2.50, 2.55, 2.60, 2.70, 2.80, 2.90, 3.00, 3.10 Happy Shopping.

RandyR Posted July 29, 2009 #44 Posted July 29, 2009 re: Shim Bucket tool, it is item # P517 for a price of $11.95 each. be careful. There are a number of dealers selling the WRONG shim tool for the xvz12/13 engines. There was a misprint in the K&L Supply catalog which is where many dealers get these items from. The correct tool is KL-35-3462 I know Ponch has offered me his Shim Kit once I am ready to use it. I will keep you in mind. Thanks again Ponch.
