roadwarrior Posted July 20, 2009 #1 Posted July 20, 2009 It was a beautiful last week on the parkway.I saw a White Venture and a white RSTD in Va.near Fancy Gap. What really shocked we were the amount of BMWs on the parkway last week.I usually see an inordinate amount of Goldwings and Ultra classic but it seemed every other bike was a BMW last week. Was there a rally or is everyone trading in their rides on a BMW?
Skid Posted July 20, 2009 #2 Posted July 20, 2009 I saw several BMWs last week heading south through West Virginia, must have been something going on somewhere...
Sling Posted July 20, 2009 #3 Posted July 20, 2009 There was a gathering of BMW's in East Tenn. area. A friend of mine went up there Friday morning. I haven't seen him yet today. Prior to going Friday he told me they were expecting around 6000 riders.

Prior to going Friday he told me they were expecting around 6000 riders. I live locally to where the rally was and it was said they had 8,800 registered bikes. If you think you saw a lot on the Parkway, you should have been around here. Saturday I was on the strip from the Lynn Cove Viaduct to Little Switzerland and saw a bunch, most of them riding alone. It was reported they fell in love with this area due to all the great riding roads and I agree. RandyA
Sylvester Posted July 20, 2009 #5 Posted July 20, 2009 Funny that I saw this post since I was on the Parkway from 74 A to 80 south and it was a beautiful day (Mt Mitchell was 49 degrees). I also noticed many BMW's. I also saw a "solo" seat R50 in white color. I had a black R 50 so many years ago.

Funny thing,we got on the parkway at 74A and rode to Mt Mitchell and down to 80 south back home to Marion.Did you by any chance see a red and white venture with sidecar?
