Had a very nice ride today with Blackjack and his GW owning neighbor Kenny, I met up with them at a Mc D's by my house and we rode down to Columbus, Ga. to pick up Muffinman's 1st Gen and trailer, he got moved onto the base sooner than expected......funny thing is Blackjack was riding B...tch on the GW, but he had a nice ride waiting for him at the hotel where the bike was parked, he got to ride the Secret Squirell bike back to his house, towing an empty cargo trailer, we took a nice scenic ride back to Newnan on Hwy 27 which passes with a little detour over Pine Mtn., and through FDR State Park.........Parted company with them at 12:oo noon back at the Mc D's we left from. Thanks to Terry for calling and including me on the ride, it was a great way to spend a beautiful cool moring riding with friends..........

And Muffinman, if you are reading this, there are just a couple of extra scratches on it, he almost caught it, but almost doesnt count now does it...............but who pays the $5.00 the rider or the owner...............:stickpoke::stickpoke::stickpoke:

Lewis, you know damn good and well that I did NOT drop the bike! I don't know what pot you're trying to stir, but that's a stew I'm not eating...

:witch_brew:

I greatly appreciate that Kenny was willing to ride me down to Columbus. Yes, I did ride as a passenger (my G-rated version) and it was quite a nice trip. I will tell you that there are only a few people I would consider riding like that with and Kenny is at the very top of the list.

A good number of you have met Kenny at one of the North GA M&Es when he had his Venture. He did sell it and then bought a Goldwing, which he has tricked out substantially. Thankfully, he likes to trade bikes so I have ridden the GW on more than one occasion, and it is truly a fabulous ride!

I also appreciate that Lewis was interested in meeting up with us on the way down and riding from Newnan to Columbus and back. We had a great ride together through some pretty countryside.

So, the Secret Squirrel bike and the cargo trailer are now safe and sound here until Jeff returns. I am, of course, obliged to ride it from time to time, so you just might see me flying down the road on it one of these days...

Thanks for picking up the bike and taking care of her for Jeff. From what he's found out he's going to be coming back through Ft. Benning on his way home at the end of this. There still scheduled to fly out on friday and either have a lay over in Germany or Ireland. Then on to Kuwait and then wherever they send him.

you can get the bare wire at a NAPA also, if yours isn't run by idiots. they also have a pretty large selection of random parts they can try to match what you bring in.

unless your store is run by idiots, then they will give you a blank look unless you have a part number.

i'm lucky, i've got two stores near me, so the one is full of idiots, but the other is a bunch of old timers that have done this for decades that can set you up in just a few mins.

Dang you have them idiots too?:crackup:I hate it when they give you that blank stare. Kinda makes you want to go behind the counter and use their stupid computer yourself.

Jack, you might not be surprised when I tell you that you are already on my very short list of those that I would ride "B***h" with. You will likely recall a M&E last year when I followed you and Sheryl through the twisties up in your area and was mighty impressed with your skill set. If I ever need to hitch-hike in Morganton I'll be sure to let you know...

I was, admittedly, quite surprised when I first got on the Secret Squirrel at how low the seat was compared to my '83. It did make me feel a bit "hunched over", hence my "old man" allusion. I've just sat on both bikes and there is definitely a three-inch difference between the two.

However, once on the road I adapted quickly, especially after I got used to the need to "pump" the brake pedal to get anything out of it. Thankfully, the front brake is quite strong, strong enough to make me think I might need to rebuild mine.

The empty trailer tracked pretty well, all-in-all, except on curves towards the end of the ride when, I believe, the air had finally all seeped out of the rear shock. I couldn't remember exactly how Jeff said the CLASS system needed to be worked (that particular one!), so I trudged home with it like it was.

A good ride altogether on a great-weather day!
