E-Fishin-C Posted July 17, 2009 #1 Posted July 17, 2009 What cruising speed are you comfortable with? When I had my 1st Gen's, I enjoyed a steady speed of 70 mph and Now with my 2009 Klr 650 I found that crusing at 65 mph feels just right
Squeeze Posted July 17, 2009 #3 Posted July 17, 2009 I'm crusing just fine at 5.5 k Rpm on all of my Rides
Redneck Posted July 18, 2009 #8 Posted July 18, 2009 Generally around 70 or what the traffic around me is doing.
painterman67 Posted July 18, 2009 #11 Posted July 18, 2009 I guess that depends on if Im with the wife or by myself or with the vr goup. The wife and I tend to be a litle slow as she likes to site see. I tend to ride about 5 to ten over by myself and just recently on a M&E ride it was closer to 15 to 20 over with a trailer aboard. Brake Pad Posted July 18, 2009 #12 Posted July 18, 2009 I'd just like to say, What an awesome question......... Just Me 70-75 Wife & I 65-75 ( Best weather ) Bike & Trailer, Wife & I 65-73 (loaded)- (rain) 40-50 when we are traveling the with the trailer on the Highways 70-78 (also depending on our load)
BuckShot Posted July 18, 2009 #13 Posted July 18, 2009 70 to 75 with or without the trailer. Have been known to run faster if all traffic is.
KarlS Posted July 18, 2009 #14 Posted July 18, 2009 75-80 on x-way or whatever traffic flow is running. 60 most other roads in the country.
Mariner Fan Posted July 18, 2009 #15 Posted July 18, 2009 Cruise won't go above 85. I never thought to see how fast we could go on Cruise Control.
dksmith196958 Posted July 18, 2009 #16 Posted July 18, 2009 ours gets its best fuel millage at 67 any higher it will drop to 33-35 over 85 it feals like its going air:innocent:borne
Guest Ken8143 Posted July 18, 2009 #17 Posted July 18, 2009 Totally depends on mood, road, weather, what ever. One of my best rides alone was taking 220 north out of Cumberland MD, headed straight north through PA, Through NY until I came to a big lake. Mostly 2 lane roads, tooling along 45 - 50
Sleeperhawk Posted July 18, 2009 #18 Posted July 18, 2009 About 90 on the interstate just keeping pace with the cops.
Midrsv Posted July 18, 2009 #19 Posted July 18, 2009 If you don't have a speedohealer on your speedometer you probably can't set the cruise on a 2nd gen it at a true 85. At an indicated 85 you are probably only running about 77 or 78 due to the speedometer error. DT
Guest Boomerbiker Posted July 18, 2009 #20 Posted July 18, 2009 Well, I have the short shield and the speedo is off about 7 mph. I don't like to run much more than 80 on the x-way. Much faster and the wind buffeting is pronounced. On the 55 mph roads I'm running at 65 -67. I do wind it out passing sometimes to around 90 or so, but at age 61 I don't like to go much faster. What the heck is the rush.
BuddyRich Posted July 18, 2009 #22 Posted July 18, 2009 If you have the Speedohealer installed then you'll get a true 85 with the cruise control . I Don't use the cruise control at that speed though.
Sleeperhawk Posted July 18, 2009 #23 Posted July 18, 2009 I like 55 to 60 myself... Bull, I been riding with you before.
Yammer Dan Posted July 18, 2009 #24 Posted July 18, 2009 I like 55 to 60 myself... Why do I have to do 80+ to keep up???:rotfl:
Skid Posted July 18, 2009 #25 Posted July 18, 2009 Bull, I been riding with you before. I can't believe you said that.... Why do I have to do 80+ to keep up??? Your speed-o-meter must be off a little... You know I'm a law biding citizen......
