Hey All, I was on ebay looking at the various mono rear shocks for different makes and models. The price they want New and Used for a 2nd Gen Rear Shock is Crazy.

:scratchchin: Does anyone knows if a shock made for a different bike will fit a 2nd Gen???

Does the RSV shock have to be air assisted or will a standard shock work?

Yes mine needs to be replaced, all oil has leaked out, still holds air, but not wanting to go to far, especially two up, with it that way. Thanks, Later-

I think a few guys were looking into an alternitive for the rsv shock...your right the price is nuts!! If mine goes south, it will be parked for awhile....

I`m sure some one will chime in with a answer...

Good luck!!

Mine is at the dealership now, waiting for the replacement shock to arrive on Thursday and be installed. Fortunately, my '06 is still under warranty so price is not an issue for me.

Here's a [ame=http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=20363]thread that discusses pricing[/ame]. From looking around here, it seems that the Works Progressive Shock is about the only viable aftermark shock for the RSV. Good luck with yours!

Works Performance is the only other place to get a shock for the RSV. The WP shock is made for you and your RSV at the time of order so there is no off the shelf replacement for the RSV shock.

The WP shock is NOT an air shock and it is much beefier than the OEM YAMMY shock. I have had one on my RSV for 2.5 years and have had no problems what so ever with it.

Pricey? yes but when you compare it to a OEM and replacing that OEM just 2 times you have spent more than the WP shock.

My first RSV I went through 3 shocks including one the second day I bought the bike from the dealer. When I sold the bike It had 4 different shocks and 37,000 miles on it.

Now my current RSV has 59,000 miles on the WP shock. I don't know how many shocks it may have had on it before I bought it, but it had 40,000 miles and the shock was shot when I bought the bike.

I may have a slightly used shock from an '08 RSV. My dealer is removing it as we speak because they are triking my bike and won't need it. I will ask them the condition of it and let you know, which it should be ok. I have never had any trouble out of it. I bought the bike new in May '08.

If you are interested, let me know. You can PM me and we can discuss a price.

Red Ryder, been riding two up over two years now without oil. I, nor the wife seem to notice any difference. Might also be the reason I've been called a Hard Ass before.
