We are one of only 2 states that do not allow concealed carry under any circumstances. Illinois being the other. On the bright side, our State Attorney General has effectively decriminalized open carry by denying the LEOs to opportunity to press charges for this "offense". RR

RR Don't feel bad, LEOs are not allowed to carry off duty in WI either. I have found a shoulder holster to be the most comfortable when riding (other than riding I cannot stand them). Or, when working and on the bike it rides on my duty belt with everything else.
CMIKE Posted July 14, 2009 #4 Posted July 14, 2009 Cross Breed IWB and occassionally with back-up in a fanny pack made for the piece around my waist off to the side. "Great Socialist Republic of Wisconsin - I don't. We are one of only 2 states that do not allow concealed carry under any circumstances. Illinois being the other." I do not go to either state for nothing.

There was a law recently signed I do believe, that will allow any LEO of any type to conceal anywhere within the contiguous US. I guess a shoulder rig or 511 vest is my best bet? I never travel anywhere without my .45.
Tom Posted July 14, 2009 #7 Posted July 14, 2009 I have a Fanny Pack type Holster, A Belly band,(Use it most often) and a belt holster but have my shirt not tucked in alot. All Glock,All the Time.(9mm and 2, 357Sigs)
Pic Posted July 14, 2009 #8 Posted July 14, 2009 Carry my KelTec 380 in the gun pocket of my leather vest when riding. Doesn't take up much space or weigh alot. If I stop someplace that I can't carry inside I put it in my Tourpak in one of the sleves at the back and lock it. For all you folks that balk at me carrying a 380 instead of cannon (I have 9mm, 44's and 45's I could carry) remember it is better than not carrying at all. Sometimes I do carry my Bullpup 44 specail, just the 380 lighter and easier to conceal, can put it in my jeans pocket if I want to.
silverdeer0454 Posted July 14, 2009 #9 Posted July 14, 2009 (edited) S&W .38 J Frame, ankle holster. And if deemed necessary my Keltec P-11 9MM inner left pocket of my leather jacket. The inner left pocket was modified by a great seamstress and lined with a thin leather sleeve. Edited July 14, 2009 by silverdeer0454 pictures didn't post correctly..Oh well
midnightventure Posted July 14, 2009 #10 Posted July 14, 2009 I have one of those undershirts with a built i holster. Really conceals well but on an all day ride really got uncomfortable. I'm afraid I'm like the earlier poster and I end up carrying my Keltec 380 a lot.
Skid Posted July 15, 2009 #11 Posted July 15, 2009 There was a law recently signed I do believe, that will allow any LEO of any type to conceal anywhere within the contiguous US. Yes it was part of the Patriot Act signed by the president. It is still in effect. Covers active law enforcement or retired with at least 15 years of service...
Guest seuadr Posted July 15, 2009 #12 Posted July 15, 2009 not to de-rail here guys, but those of you carrying the keltec 380... how do you like it? i've been thinking of taking a CCW course and i'd love something small and light for personal defence. i've heard good things, but not talked to someone that owned and shot one specifically.
GS51 Posted July 15, 2009 #13 Posted July 15, 2009 For all of you that carry how do you handle crossing state lines ?
GuthDaddy17 Posted July 15, 2009 #14 Posted July 15, 2009 I have a C.H.L. here in Texas and carry a 9mm in the belly band and a 25 in the hard bag!!! All Texans can now carry concealed in their vehicles (as long as they are upstanding citizens) Another reason to love Texas!
jlh3rd Posted July 15, 2009 #15 Posted July 15, 2009 gs51 my short answer is..i don't worry about it......in the 5 past years that i've traveled all out west...and this year the blue ridge and natchez trace.....i've never encountered any mishaps with the law......... i have a harley davidson pouch that fit in the space on my former electra glide where the radio could go. this black bag has belt loops on it......so this bag rides in the trunk or side bag with my pistol in it...and i put it on if i feel i need to when off the bike.......and the pistol is on the night stand next to the bed in the hotel at night......
Monty Posted July 15, 2009 #16 Posted July 15, 2009 The Law Enforcement Safety Act of 2004, allows an Officer or Qualified retired Officer to carry a weapon ANYWHERE in the United States. Individual States cannot prevent an Officer from carrying. [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_Enforcement_Officers_Safety_Act[/ame] I remember this one, because I was an Officer when it was passed.
midnightventure Posted July 15, 2009 #17 Posted July 15, 2009 For all of you that carry how do you handle crossing state lines ? If the state has a reciprocating agreement with my state I go ahead and carry. If it doesn't I stop and unload and separate ammo from the gun. Its not worth it to me to end up with a record if I would happen to get stopped and searched ( something that has never happened to me).
silverdeer0454 Posted July 15, 2009 #18 Posted July 15, 2009 (edited) not to de-rail here guys, but those of you carrying the keltec 380... how do you like it? i've been thinking of taking a CCW course and i'd love something small and light for personal defence. i've heard good things, but not talked to someone that owned and shot one specifically. I have a Kel-Tec .380 and a Kel-Tec P11PK 9mm pistol. The 380 is the lightest handgun available next to a single shot derringer. The P11PK is only a few ounces more and a bit more accurate. Not that accuracy matters too much because most confrontations take place at 7 feet or less. Bottom line: go to a reputable range and talk to others, try several different handguns and then make your choice. However the most important item: Hit the range often, perfect practice makes perfect. Another poster asked about crossing state lines. There is a handbook published by a lawyer that lists the rules in every state and who recognises who. I'll try to find the link and post it. My other guns I have shot a lot but the 380 I haven't even put a full box through. It is surprisingly accurate although much harder to shoot accurately than my other guns. It has been reliable so far but a friend of mine that also has one had trouble with his original magazine.
OldBear Posted July 15, 2009 #20 Posted July 15, 2009 not to de-rail here guys, but those of you carrying the keltec 380... how do you like it? i've been thinking of taking a CCW course and i'd love something small and light for personal defence. i've heard good things, but not talked to someone that owned and shot one specifically. I had a P32 Keltek I liked a lot, however I wanted a little more power. Went to the P3AT. Consistently ran into failure to feed problems/ejector problems. Tried a second generation-same issues. Sent it back to the factory, got it back and the same problem occurred on the second magazine I ran through it. Since both my son (a career marine) and my brother in law all had similar problems, I gave up on it (as did they) and went back to my old J frame smith .38. They MAY have fixed the problem in the last couple years-don't know, however when using ANY small auto, be sure to buy several brands of ammo and run a BUNCH through it to be SURE it will go bang, each time and EVERY time. Any piece that won't is, at least IMHO worthless as a carry piece. With that said, I've found a pocket holster in the left front pocket of my riding pants works well (I'm a southpaw).
flb_78 Posted July 15, 2009 #21 Posted July 15, 2009 I carry a Ruger LCP in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.
silverdeer0454 Posted July 15, 2009 #22 Posted July 15, 2009 They did fix the problem with a redesigned ejector and then factory mods to the 2nd (3rd??) generation. I haven't had any problems with mine but I did switch to the Hornady Critical Defense after getting it back from the factory.
brscooter Posted July 15, 2009 #23 Posted July 15, 2009 I carry the Keltec .380. I carry it in my front pocket which is loose and it cannot be seen. I carry everywhere I go except in federal building that do not allow LEO's to carry in them. It may be small but I only plan on using it to protect myself, my family, friends I am with or other LEOs who need help if I happen to be around. I am now retired and dont plan on using it to police.
67mini67 Posted July 15, 2009 #24 Posted July 15, 2009 I have a Utah CCW that is good in ??32?? states ecxept two that I travel most often -- CA and OR. I still don't leave home with out it.
ArticusMedicus Posted July 15, 2009 Author #25 Posted July 15, 2009 For all of you that carry how do you handle crossing state lines ? Thats an easy question to answer... I don't go to any state or business that does not recognize our inalienable right to defend ourselves. I'll go as far as to say that they should be stricken from the union. As to the question about the .380 here is a little ...light (LOL) reading for you. http://www.gunthorp.com/Terminal%20Ballistics%20as%20viewed%20in%20a%20morgue.htm .45 holes are big enough to let the stupid out.
