Cougar Posted September 15, 2007 #1 Posted September 15, 2007 I finely got my new Zumo 550. I must say it is one of the best toys I have ever had. (very fun)! I have been trying to do searches here on cell-sets to run off the Zumo. Looks like the Kennedy is kind of a hard to install device and there are problem? Not sure if Buddy got his working right or not yet. I would like some links to place's so my wife and I both can receive calls through our J&M Headsets I also received an 8 GIG SDHC card for all my MP3's They are only $65.00 now. and it works perfect after the FAT32 Format! (made by Tansend) Did I say I loved my new Zumo? Thanks for any help! Jeff
BuddyRich Posted September 15, 2007 #2 Posted September 15, 2007 Hey Jeff. The cable I make works but you have to be on AUX to use the bluthooth phone as it coming thru the Zumo. I rarely ever go off AUX after installing the Zumo any way as I'm either listing to XM or mp3's thru it. The cables are 30 dollars and I will be making up some more late next week so I could mail it to you on the 24th.
Cougar Posted September 15, 2007 Author #3 Posted September 15, 2007 That would be wonderful if you can do that for me! YES> I am only using the AUX .. so how does this work? I can still hear my turn by turn and MP3 through the external speakers then if I get a call I can switch over to headset to hear/and talk on the phone this is right? also can my wife be able to call or hear as well? Do I need anything else beside your cable? I also hope you have some pictures as well PM me your Pal-Pal account and I will send it today so I do not have to worry about it later. Thanks so much! Jeff
Cougar Posted September 15, 2007 Author #4 Posted September 15, 2007 And the cables are long enough to run into the fairing? and not having to plug the into the AUX Port in the front of the cassette player?
BuddyRich Posted September 16, 2007 #5 Posted September 16, 2007 The cable I make is just for the mic in to the Zumo. But since you will have the fairing apart Radio Shack sells a 1/8" stereo splitter that you can plug in behind the fairing and then run your audio out from the Zumo into it under the fairing. Sorry I don't have any pics. You can Paypal me. the cost is $30. buddyrich@ebmc.com
Guest sargeb13 Posted September 16, 2007 #6 Posted September 16, 2007 I have one on a Garmin 376C, and it installed with no problem, and works great. I'd suggest calling Kennedy and telling them what you want to do. The stuff I have is strictly plug-and-play, with zero problems for two years now. I've never heard of anyone with a problem with installing Kennedy stuff, when they had the right cables and what not to begin with. Michael
Cougar Posted September 16, 2007 Author #7 Posted September 16, 2007 So it is just for the Rider to talk? Can the passenger talk as well? Thanks, Jeff Michael , I will look into that a bit more Thanks! Jeff
BuddyRich Posted September 16, 2007 #8 Posted September 16, 2007 When I have gotten phone calls they can hear my wife also. Now I'm not totally sure if its thru her mic or if my mic is picking her up.
Midrsv Posted September 16, 2007 #10 Posted September 16, 2007 So it is just for the Rider to talk? Can the passenger talk as well? Thanks, Jeff Michael , I will look into that a bit more Thanks! Jeff Jeff, On my unit my wife can hear the conversation but she can't join in. Can't explain why but her mic doesn't go to the telephone, just the front one. And, Buddyrich's cable works great. Dennis
Cougar Posted September 16, 2007 Author #11 Posted September 16, 2007 Thanks much for the update Dennis. I think that will be ok... So I take it that when the call comes in--- switch over to head-set and My wife and I can hear. and I can talk back into my mic, If I am understanding this correctly, I guess if my wife can hear she can just tell me what to say ! she always does anyways! Or she aways tells me what to do? *BWG* Jeff
BEER30 Posted September 16, 2007 #12 Posted September 16, 2007 Cougar , I have the Kennedy Cellset myself . Both rider and passenger can hear and talk via the unit . The Zumo is set up to accept both my wife's and my cellphones . To receive phone calls with the Kennedy or BuddyRich's unit , the Zumo has to be linked via the AUX . No way out of it , as the Zumo controls the bluetooth . The cellset is more expensive than BuddyRich unit is . I would suggest using Buddy's for the cost . Also to add , with the Kennedy Cellset , I went a step further to get the unit for future add ons such as audio for Radar Detector or other devices . Gene
Cougar Posted September 17, 2007 Author #13 Posted September 17, 2007 Yes I think I will give buddys a try first. I really think that is all I need for now.. and anything I have set-up on the bike is ran through the AUX on the bike I never listion to the Bikes Radio anyways! This darn Zumo is a gas to play with tho! Jeff
