elag Posted July 13, 2009 #1 Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) Need to sync the carbs on my 84 Venture. A friend of mine says he can sync them using 4 seperate vacuum guages http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/4/Auto/AutoTools/MultiTesters/PRD~0251039P/Pro%2BVacuum-Pressure%2BTester.jsp (haven't bought them yet). This is more convenient then a Carbtune since I can find them locally. My question is how accurate will this be compared to carbtune or syncpro? Edited July 13, 2009 by elag
Squeeze Posted July 13, 2009 #2 Posted July 13, 2009 This Gauges aren't the best Idea to begin with, because the Vacuum at which your balancing the Carbs is on the End of the upper Range of Gauge and therefore, they could be damaged very easy during the Process. You need gauges which deals at least with 0.6 bar Vaccum to stay in on the safe Side.
elag Posted July 13, 2009 Author #3 Posted July 13, 2009 Thanks Squeeze. So I am better off ordering and waiting for the Cartune.
1 Canuck Posted July 13, 2009 #4 Posted July 13, 2009 Thanks Squeeze. So I am better off ordering and waiting for the Cartune. I haven't sync'd my carbs yet on my Midnight. If I could make a trip out of it, I'll come over with some brewski's and we could do them both? Just an idea.
Guest Saddletramp Posted July 13, 2009 #5 Posted July 13, 2009 Elag, the people at Morgan are quick with the order and I don't think I waited more than a week and a half for it to get to me. No regrets on the purchase.
Wizard765 Posted July 13, 2009 #6 Posted July 13, 2009 Maybe if Carl (Marcarl) sees this he might volunteer to sync your carbs if you can bring it over. You are not far from him. Wayne

Wayne Yep, can do and do your carbs as well. Bike needs to be running good before you do a sync, carbs should be working properly. I sync with a vaccum gauge, but I use only one gauge, as 4 different gauges will give you 4 different readings. I use a manifold to connect them together. Come on over, I wouldn't really mind meeting you anyways, and mostly I don't bite.. Carl
elag Posted July 28, 2009 Author #8 Posted July 28, 2009 Sorry I couldn't respond earlier. Site trial time ran out and it took FOREVER to transfer $$ into my daughter's Paypal account. Just want to say thanks to Marcarl for a great job on the carb sync. He is very good instructor. After watching him do it I wouldn't hesitate to do it by myself. Bike is running much better now but still has minor miss (probably fouled plugs from seafoam, haven't checked yet). Once I get it running to the point where I am comfortable with it for long rides and if it ever stops raining . I will join you guys for the Tuesday evening rides.
