beetle57 Posted July 12, 2009 #1 Posted July 12, 2009 just bought a 1990 been trying to trouble shoot fixed one cylinder with new plug wire and boot trying to do the same for other cylinder when i pull the plug when bike is running there is no drop in performance, also the wire will spark outside the wire when unplugged and touching the cylinder with a neww wire and boot
Dano Posted July 12, 2009 #2 Posted July 12, 2009 Start with replacing all 4 plugs, and we recommend replacing all the plugs and boots with new ones to eliminate any doubtfull ones. You can also take some readings at the TCI with a digital meter to check output pulses and things like that. There's a full section on this in the tech library. Good luck, Dan
GeorgeS Posted July 12, 2009 #3 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) The wire is simply 7MM copper core standard Spark Plug wire. Most Auto parts stores carry the stuff in bulk. Also, there is NGK, plug caps avialable, much much, cheaper then the OEM plug caps. The wire simpley screws out of the Coils, and the plug caps, Very Easy to build New set of plug wires !! Replace them all, if you suspect bad wires, Edited July 12, 2009 by GeorgeS
