Nemo Posted July 8, 2009 #1 Posted July 8, 2009 To loosen the handlebar bolts, there are chrome caps over each one. Does anyone have a special method to remove these caps, so as to get at these 4 bolts? Thanks.
Scooter Bob Posted July 8, 2009 #2 Posted July 8, 2009 Just a gentle prying with a small blade at the edge. They are just plastic caps with fingers stuck into the socket head of the clamp bolts. Good Luck, Scooter Bob
Eck Posted July 8, 2009 #3 Posted July 8, 2009 Carefully pry them up using a small pocket knife blade. I suggest that you pry them up from the forward side / edge, so if you happen to booger the edge up you can always reinstall them with the boogered edge towards the front of the bike. This way no one can see the little markson th echrome edge when sitting in the saddle.......
Nemo Posted July 8, 2009 Author #4 Posted July 8, 2009 Thanks, Guys. That's what I thought, but I had tried it with my pocket knife but it must have too thick of a blade. I've got a smaller knife so I'm going out and try again.
Nemo Posted July 8, 2009 Author #5 Posted July 8, 2009 Worked like a charm! I got a paring knife from the wife. I just want to say that I really enjoy this site and the knowledgable comments. I don't ask many questions, but the ones that I'm thinking of are mostly always answered by just reading other's posts. You are a great group of guys and gals! Thanks to everyone for all your input!
Squeeze Posted July 8, 2009 #6 Posted July 8, 2009 ... You are a great group of guys and gals! .. I think you have a Typo here ... Since you're Part of the Group this should read "We're a great Group ..." :bluesbrother:
Snaggletooth Posted July 8, 2009 #7 Posted July 8, 2009 Hey Owen. Were you up around Cresent the other day on Hwy 183 turning west back towards I-29? I was stopped at the gas station on the corner there and a silver RSV came around the corner and we kind of eyeballed each other and waved but I couldn't get caught up to him. Just wondering. Mike
Nemo Posted July 9, 2009 Author #8 Posted July 9, 2009 Yes, that was probably me. I've made that run a few times. Sorry I didn't stop! Maybe next time. Owen.
Snaggletooth Posted July 9, 2009 #9 Posted July 9, 2009 Damn! So close! One of these days I'm actually meet somebody from this club. Well I run Hwy 183 up to Mo Valley most every weekend just for the fun of it. Probably catch up with ya one of these days. Mike
