Question for Goldwing GL1500 Riders...

Any of you ride a GL1500? I need to know, if someone can tell me, if Wal-Mart sells an oil filter that is compatible with the GL1500's. My dad has a 1996 GL1500, and hates to pay for the filters from the dealer, and I'm sure there are suitable replacements. Trying to search through Goldwing forums for "replacement oil filter" is like searching any oil related topic at any forum.

The GL1500, the GL1800, and the RSVenture all take the same oil filter.

Honda Yamaha and Kawasaki all use the same filter which also fits most Mazdas. Suzuki had to be different and use an oddball pitch on their threads.

Walmart brand ST6017 ?

 

I use Wix filter but Napa Gold is just as good, its the same filter just different name on it.

i use the st 7317 on my wing it is a little longer than the 6017. if it will fit it has a little more capacity. $2.48 at walmart.

What about an aftermarket filter for the 1300, shop does my all changes till Sept. 2010 when contract runs out, then I will be doing my own...............

lewis, i use the 7317 on my v-star. fits perfect. it sticks out a little farther, which makes it easier to get a filter wrench on.
