Frog Man,

Just did the Marshall mod. with the fold downs. The total cost, for both antennas and all associated parts, was about $1.00 cheaper (with shipping) than I could get 1 OEM CB antenna for, the cheapest I could find, without shipping.

One note, I did not have to buy the 12' cable that would go from the AM/FM antenna to the front faring. I did have to purchase the connectors that go on the antenna mount for the AM/FM side though. Got a couple at Radio Shack.

Another way is to use this write up, by Steve Bumgardner, in the Tech Section to transform yours to a single antenna:

Remember to set your SWR no matter what you get!

I like the single antenna look and convenience. I started with the Marshall Mod, then just took it another step. The whole thing cost about $75.

Bummer .. Did you split the system with a splitter or go with one of

the fairing mounted hidden antenna ... there should be a couple of

small bolts where you can remove the mount on the right side which

would clean things up a bit ...

I put a (slightly) modified Firestik splitter in the box the radio's in.

I've already taken the antenna base off. The chrome you see over there is the chrome piece that mounts on top of the side bag. I reduced the image quality to make the pic smaller in file size. Perhaps too much? :)
