Gray Ghost Posted July 3, 2009 #1 Posted July 3, 2009 In 1919 the Army sent a convoy from Washington D.C. to California. There is a group retracing the route. More information can be found here: http://www.army.mil/convoy/. I wish I was close enough to see this and that I had found out about it sooner.
Lone Eagle Posted July 3, 2009 #2 Posted July 3, 2009 That is very interesting - thanks for sharing. Will have to see if there are any local events planned for them when they get here - that could be very interesting.
craigatcsi Posted July 3, 2009 #3 Posted July 3, 2009 Dog Gone it!! I wish I would have known about this sooner! I would LOVE to have seen this as it came thru Omaha. I will have to keep up with them on the web. Thanks for posting. craigr
Condor Posted July 3, 2009 #4 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) Yeah, I'd like to hear what's on their itinerary, if anything, when they roll through Sacramento?? Love to look at those old military jeeps. Used to run around in a '53 way back in my 20's... Actually after looking at their planed stops it looks like the closest they'll get to Sac is Placerville, and then on to Stockton and finally to SF.
