Steve S Posted July 3, 2009 #1 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) I was roaming through the Custom Dynamics (www.customdynamics.com) site and noticed that they have a new tail light board. It's a drop in like the one that many of us already use, BUT, it has 100 LEDs instead of the current 32. The 32 LED board is really bright compared to the old bulb, so I can only imagine what the new one looks like. At $90 US it's kinda pricey, but well worth it if that is the only light you are using as a brake light. Just my sick, twisted, unsolicited opinion... Edited July 3, 2009 by Steve S
Wanderer Posted July 3, 2009 #2 Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks for the link. Got it bookmarked, now if I can just come up with $90.
Ponch Posted July 6, 2009 #3 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) Had a unit from Signal Dynamics with 50 or so smal LED's. It burnt out at about a year. They wouldn't even return my email. I had another problem with Signal Dynamics on a part I purchased from Cistom Dynamics. The rep at Custom Dynamics handled the afair and I got the replacement right away. I replaced the defective tail light board with a unit from Custom Dynamics that has less LED's. These LED's are bigger and brighter. The original unit burned (I should say SHORTED OUT) because the resistors and other wiring was too close to the mounting locations. juggler Posted July 6, 2009 #4 Posted July 6, 2009 (edited) I use this board I bought at Bikerhiway.com http://www.bikerhiway.com/radiantz-led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html The are on 32 LED's but not all LED's are equal. These are the super high intensity LED's and they are BRIGHT! Even in the day time sun. Plus they are only $53. Edited July 6, 2009 by juggler
CMIKE Posted July 6, 2009 #5 Posted July 6, 2009 I already replaced my 32 LED with the new 100 LED tail lights. It is wonderful. Lot brighter. I have had nothing but good luck with all the stuff I bought from custom dynamics. Really good folks to deal with as far as I was concerned. Answered all my questions and helped out when I was trying to come up with some new ideas for my bike. If you got any trouble...need to call them, I think they would work something out with you. Mention this site. Sorry you had trouble. I was just kinda upset they did not offer this 100 LED unit at first.
BuddyRich Posted July 6, 2009 #6 Posted July 6, 2009 http://www.bikerhiway.com/radiantz-led-tail-light-for-yamaha-road-star-and-vstar-p-176.html The are on 32 LED's but now all LED's are equal. Yep, Those are Super Flux leds. They have a much high mcd output and wider angle of view. Next step up from that is the 1 watt and 3 watt Luxeon Emitters. I have a couple of those wired up in my brake light
Cougar Posted July 6, 2009 #7 Posted July 6, 2009 Must have been what Hannigan put in both my tail lights when my conversion was done! Very happy with them!

I now have LED's all around my bike and also have the LED Tail Light Board, but mine did not have any resistors showing on the surface of the board...just LEDs. One good thing about LEDs from Custom Dynamics is that they are warranted for life.

I do like my 32 LED board and is already super bright...with 90 LEDs, that may look like you are already on your brakes and much brighter when the brakes are applied. Congrats on the safety mod.
KiteSquid Posted July 6, 2009 #10 Posted July 6, 2009 one problem with the LED light boards is they don't state the viewing angle or the MCD output of the LEDs that are installed. you cant compare them until you have two or more models in your hand.......
