footsie Posted July 2, 2009 #1 Posted July 2, 2009 I was puting a new shaft seal seal in the rear end, got all back together and looked down on the floor, and the chrome cap that sets on the rear vent was on the floor. Does not look like much holds it on. Anyone else had one come off, I must have knocked off somehow. Gregg
MiCarl Posted July 2, 2009 #2 Posted July 2, 2009 That cap is spot welded to the vent pipe and is very easy to break off. You'll need to replace the entire vent. They're not real expensive. Or, you might try to epoxy it on. Be sure you don't cover the vent hole.
rosebud Posted July 2, 2009 #3 Posted July 2, 2009 Boy is this place educational - here I was thinking a rear end vent is another name for passing gas....
footsie Posted July 2, 2009 Author #4 Posted July 2, 2009 I did not see the vent hole, was going to use epoxy but I want to make sure I don't plug the vent hole. The spot weld was very small indeed on this one. Does the vent screw in the punpkin or is it just driven into the hole. Thanks Gregg
spear Posted July 2, 2009 #5 Posted July 2, 2009 Boy is this place educational - here I was thinking a rear end vent is another name for passing gas.... Yeah, me too. For a minute I thought we were going to get lessons on bird anatomy.
