banditrvp Posted July 1, 2009 #1 Posted July 1, 2009 It's been a couple years since I removed the bodywork on my 87 VR and I'm just now putting the bike together. I wish I had taken photos while taking it apart but I didn't. I did bag and tag the nuts, bolts etc. In the bags for the body, front upper pieces (main faring pieces) I have one spring for each side. I don't remember where these go and I don't see the springs on the faring exploded parts view. Can anyone tell me where they should go? Thanks, Ron
Wizard765 Posted July 1, 2009 #2 Posted July 1, 2009 I don' have an 87 (mines an 84) BUT those springs could be at the very back, top and side where your knees would be sitting on the bike. They would stop the side panels from rattling once they are snapped into place. That is the only place I remember seeing springs. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Wayne
Dragonslayer Posted July 1, 2009 #3 Posted July 1, 2009 They go on the rear top screws of both upper fairings at the front upper points of the side panels. They provide tension on the back of the side covers to press them outwards when attached to keep the lines or the upper front fairings at the attachment point just aft of the battery and the forward upper side panels in line. If i'm right do I get credit, If I'm wrong will it go on my permenent record?
