double v Posted June 29, 2009 #1 Posted June 29, 2009 Has anyone tried to use a 12V tire inflator powered from the faring accessory output? I have heard that they will blow the fuse.
V7Goose Posted June 29, 2009 #2 Posted June 29, 2009 Lots of information in this thread for you: http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33451&highlight=power Goose
yamahamer Posted June 29, 2009 #3 Posted June 29, 2009 I tried it once it blew the fuse in about 2 seconds. I bought a rechargable one to keep in the trunk now.
Carbon_One Posted June 30, 2009 #4 Posted June 30, 2009 Your best bet is to add a 12 volt power outlet wired direct to the battery. Of course add a fuse holder and properly sized wiring. There's a prepunched hole with a plug by the rear fender on the left side. A very convienate location with it being next to the + terminal of the battery. Larry BTW: I have one of the Slime compact tire infators and it works great. Just plug into the above power outlet and go. My outlet has a rubber cover to keep water out as well.
GeorgeS Posted June 30, 2009 #5 Posted June 30, 2009 When you wire up the new plug, make sure you use wire at least as large diameter as the cables that come with the Air Pump. ( best use one size larger wire ) And read the instructions that come with the unit, to determine what size fuse to use. Your new plug should go directly to the battery, NOT an existing circuit.
