ablumny Posted June 28, 2009 #4 Posted June 28, 2009 behind the left side cover below the seat (if you are sitting on it) i believe. One allen head bolt and it pulls off straight towards you.
BuddyRich Posted June 28, 2009 #5 Posted June 28, 2009 Sounds like the ign switch. But since you opened it Check all the connectors inside the fairing to be sure you didn't disconnect anything. Check your kill switch also
The Black Pearl Posted June 28, 2009 Author #6 Posted June 28, 2009 OK SO OPENED IT UP AND DID FIND BLOWN FUSE GOT IT REPLACED AND SPEEDO IS WORKING FUEL GAUGE ETC NOW WHEN I HIT THE LEFT BLINKER DASH LIGHT COMES ON AND BOTH FRONT AND BACK BLINK, HIT THE RIGHT BLINKER AND I HEAR CLICKING NO DASH INDICATOR LIGHT FRONT LIGHT KINDA FLICKERS BUT REAR LIGHT STAYS OFF??? SWITCHED BULBS TO SEE IF I HAD A BLOWN BULB AND BOTH ARE FINE ANY OTHER IDEAS GUYS???
Crash Posted June 28, 2009 #7 Posted June 28, 2009 Possible pinched wire when your put the fairing back on. It would be right near the fairing screw under the headlight.
BuddyRich Posted June 28, 2009 #8 Posted June 28, 2009 Check for pinched wires in the bracket holding the turn signals on. If you have the passing lamps and removed that bracket its easy to pinch them when you put it back together. You shorted something out to blow a fuse
The Black Pearl Posted June 28, 2009 Author #9 Posted June 28, 2009 YA LIKE A IDIOT I PINCHED A WIRE SO I COVERED THE SPOT WITH HEAT SHRINK WRAP AND GOT IT ALL BUTTONED UP EVERYTHING WORKING RIGHT THANKS GUYS KNEW I COULD GET THE RIGHT HELP HERE TIME TO RIDE THANKS TO ALL
juggler Posted June 28, 2009 #11 Posted June 28, 2009 BTW: for future reference, it is possible to change the head light bulb without splitting the fairing. I just changed mine a couple of weeks ago. I swear the access opening was designed for the hand of Japanese school girls, after sweating in the heat for an hour I was finally able to complete the bulb change. I put in a PIAA 135/125w SuperPlasmaGT-X Bulb. http://www.bikerhiway.com/h4-135125w-superplasma-gtx-antivibration-piaa-motorcycle-headlight-bulb-p-256.html

Lol It wasn't easy. I have fairly big paws. I can only wear XL or larger gloves. Once I got my hand wet and forced it inside the opening I did everything by feel. It took several tries but I did get the new bulb back in place with only a little cussing. And I did so without ever touching the glass on the bulb. My hand did hurt for a day afterward and it was cut up a bit.
