Snaggletooth Posted June 28, 2009 #3 Posted June 28, 2009 Well I missed ya somewhere. Met some friends from KC this morning in Rock Port, MO and rode I-29 up to Missouri Valley, IA with them. You were probably behind us. If nothing else you had a beatuiful day to ride. Best weather we have had in a while. If we had crossed paths I more than likely would have ridden to Sioux Falls with ya. Hope the weather holds out for your trip. Ride safe Mike
Al Bates Posted June 29, 2009 #4 Posted June 29, 2009 Info about Mt Rushmore: Once you pay your ticket is good for the week. Make time for the night event. Have breakfast or lunch there the food is good and reasonable. The new hotels in town just off the hill is a good place to stay. Have fun!
Yammer Dan Posted June 29, 2009 #5 Posted June 29, 2009 Mt Rushmore is one I would like to make before the next accident....
craigatcsi Posted June 29, 2009 #6 Posted June 29, 2009 Sounds like there were a few of us in your area Sunday. I rode from Omaha to Sioux City for a Steak. I would like to have ridden with you if I had seen this post in time. Have a great trip and make sure you stop by to see Crazy Horse. craigr

craigatcsi Posted June 29, 2009 #10 Posted June 29, 2009 Give us a call when coming up, will gladly ride down to Sioux City, Daryl We will have to do that. My wife was jealous that she couldn't go yesterday, so that would be a good excuse for another Texas Roadhouse steak! It was a GREAT T-Bone, tender enough that I was able to cut it with my fork! I wasn't able to eat the entire meal, so I will be having the remainder for lunch today. Next time we go up there, I will post on here, hopefully you can join us. craigr

TWehrle Posted June 29, 2009 #12 Posted June 29, 2009 Thank you all for some of the advice in this thread. My wife and I are leaving the Chicago suburbs Wednesday for the Mt. Rushmore area. Planning on riding Wed. & Thur. to get there, enjoying the monument Friday, then taking Sat. & Sun. to ride the area and return home. I am breaking in a brand new 09 RSV (and my wife as well) on their first long trip. Hope the weather is clear.

AKRefugee Posted June 30, 2009 Author #14 Posted June 30, 2009 Thank you all for some of the advice in this thread. We did highway 240 at exit 131. It is called the Badlands Loop and brings you back out on I90 at Wall SD. so you can see Wall Drug as well. Loops takes about 45min to an hour and WELL worth it. Wall Drug is a cool place to stop and they have the best patches as well as decent food. Several constructions zones on I90 between Sioux Falls and Rapid City but it moved very well. Enjoy the ride and if you stay in Sioux Falls meet with Daryl and Sheila, great folks.
