Seaking Posted June 28, 2009 #1 Posted June 28, 2009 Here I am with my RoadKing pipes (slip ons) and they have a nice rumble to them when it's cold out but now in the summer heat they are tamed down and sound like all the other RSV.. not bad.. no worries.. But Hmm what if I wanna have a louder sound? Not talking about ear splitting racket but a manly-man sounding bike, ya know? (yes, you know what I mean I keep seeing references on making the RK pipes louder but can't find info how to do it or if it's reversible.. Or would I be better off with a new set of slipons, ones that are meant for the RSV, that offer a nice sound.. The Baron 4-2-4 I've heard and didnt like the look or sound, unfortunately, sorry.. What's everyone else running that they enjoy most? Thanks in advance. Cheers
1sttenor Posted June 28, 2009 #2 Posted June 28, 2009 I have the Road Kings...maybe I'm getting old, I was looking for just a bit of rumble, but not a lot, as I like 400-500 mile days. I have had loud pipes in the past and after a hard day they just get old for me. The RK's in the stage 3 form are perfect for us, low rumble, but not annoying.
BoomerCPO Posted June 28, 2009 #3 Posted June 28, 2009 A friend of mine has the Vance & Hines BUBS on his Venture and they are not real loud.... until ya romp on the throttle. Boomer.....who's running the 4-2-4's on the Scalded Ape and enjoys scaring the hell out of the squirrels thank you very much.

BOO Posted June 28, 2009 #7 Posted June 28, 2009 I have the road kings, I don't know for nothing about stage 3 or 26 or 75. I drilled mine out with a inch and a quarter hole saw. You will need a 12 inch extension to reach the inter most baffle. In my mufflers there were 3 spots to drill out and the muffler is pretty much straight through. Its got enough turbulence to not be to loud but if you really get on the throttle it has a pretty good bite. I don't even notice them going down the road and the guys behind be say they are not annoying to them either. I just used the HD clamp and didn't worrying about it be covered etc that you will see in the tech section. BOO
