OutlawRider Posted June 27, 2009 #26 Posted June 27, 2009 Just do not thing about the whine and ride. You'll get to the point you do not even hear it. I was doing that one day until I thought I do not even hear the whine and than I could. Just do not thing about it and you'll get used to it. Enyoy your ride.
Red Rider Posted June 27, 2009 Author #27 Posted June 27, 2009 Whats this chrip that you hear? I'm not hearing that...
Magnawake Posted June 30, 2009 #28 Posted June 30, 2009 I was jogging down a road and saw a Venture pass me. That thing had a very load whine. So load...Sounded like George Jetson's space craft. A person would have a hard time getting used to that sound. However, I just bought an 02 Midnight and it whines a little at 55-60. Mine is certianly tolerable. I cant say I know what the chirp is though. I guess I'm lucky.
Bobby G Posted July 5, 2009 #29 Posted July 5, 2009 OK guys, here's what the Yami engineering experts told me when I visited them a few weeks ago (they are a client of mine). The "chirp" is fixable, but the "whine" is an engineering glitch that has not been addressed by them in 10 years, and does NOT come from the cut of the gearing, but from the clutch. Mess with the oil all you want, but your "whine" is here to stay. Sorry.
snarf Posted July 5, 2009 #31 Posted July 5, 2009 If you do not have the WHINE or CHIRP, Please look between your legs you are sitting on a GOLDWING.

I'm probably too cheap to replace mine now while its under warranty, but maybe down the road if it will quiet it down. Edited July 6, 2009 by RandyR

I'm probably too cheap to replace mine now while its under warranty, but maybe down the road if it will quiet it down. I have a Barnett clutch. I also have a SCREAM, not a chirp or whine. Get within a city block of this beast and you'll be sure to hear it. Amsoil = Loud Scream Rotella Dino = Loud scream Rotella Synthetic = Loud Scream Castrol 20w-50 = Loud Scream Baron's 4-2-4 pipes will NOT cover it or even muffle it one bit. Combination of Baron's pipes and music at full volume will NOT cover or mute this scream. Whine? I'd love to just have a whine to deal with. My next step is the I-Basket. I have priced one, $283 delivered to my door. It's a lot of money to spend on an "if"....but if I can't fix it, I don't think I can keep it long term, even though I LOVE everything else about this bike. Joe
