MasterGuns Posted June 25, 2009 #26 Posted June 25, 2009 Brian, Please don't send me anything. Heck it was only a few bucks and whats that amongst fellow 1st Editioners/Editionists, whatever. OK Guys , I will try and get it gone today,... I hate to see Jack without a project to ponder over. Thanks for the use of it Herb, I will send some cash your way for the postage, I really appreciate it. I still got a leak, but its not my gear indicator anymore, it looks like the shifter pass through and the stator grommet. That is a handy tool to have kicking around! Brian
rjg1985 Posted June 25, 2009 #27 Posted June 25, 2009 Hi Jack, My 85 would leak a little after I drove it and then stop. It turned out to be the large o-ring in the drive gear assembly coming out the back of the engine.
Condor Posted June 25, 2009 Author #28 Posted June 25, 2009 OK Guys , I will try and get it gone today,... I hate to see Jack without a project to ponder over. Brian Yeah, thanks Bud.... I think....
Condor Posted August 21, 2009 Author #29 Posted August 21, 2009 Well I think the leak has a cork in it. After tightening down the gear indicator sender, and afterwards it leaking so much it looked like a mosquito abatement control truck, the culprit seemed to be the sender. So Brian sent down the cut-away middle gear cover, and I bought another sender off Ebay for a couple of bucks. Glad I did. Everyone kept posting about an 'O' ring on the back side of the sender plate. I got the impression the 'O' ring layed flat against the block between the plastic plate. It doesn't. The plate actually has a raised portion that the ring fit's around and is inserted into a recess in the block. Anyway, to make a long story a bit longer, Kurt got in there and changed out the ring and wa-la, no more leak... or smoke. The bike still marks it's spot from another very slight drip up front, but I can live with that. Time to start tweeking things in time for Cody.
