I'm thinking of trying one of the Venture seats on my rstd. There's one on Ebay now and the bid is up to $132. Are these seats worth that much money? I've never seen an stock seat sell for that much. It has a couple of days left ...dunno how high the bid might go but I don't think I'll bid that high for a stock seat. I'd sure like to buy one to try though.

I was looking for awhile on ebay and the stock Pillow tops were bringing up to $200.00. I ended up buying a Corbin for $300.00.

I now have both the Corbin and The stock Pillow top that I rebuilt myself... kinda like Rick butler does on his seats... then replaced the top pillow layer with a Latex Memory foam. It feels great.

Jury is still out on which seat is best for the long haul... I will know this weekend tho. We are traveling to WV for the Skid in. I'm bringing both seats so we can change it out.

Good luck in your search for the right seat.

For what it is worth OEM from yamaha the seat runs around 330. I was talking with my local dealer about another part and saw this, so they looked it up for me.

Everything from Yamaha is expensive.

Yea, I know - I just figured I would toss that out there for you just as an FYI.

If you look carefully at the picture that shows the seat from a rear view - it looks as if the tab that holds the seat in place is actually broken.

Whatever seat fits one person does not necessarily fit another. I tried Corbin, Mustang and settled on a gel pad inserted in the seat. For me it is great. Rick Butler does this kind of work, but I got it from some other company in 2003.

try whatever seat you like.........however the rsv seat will not fit the rstd, they mount much differently fyi.

It can be mounted using some L brackets.

Any chance of getting some pics of the brackets some time? It sounds like several people have done this. does it raise the seat height any?

Here's how it's done. This is not my idea, I got it from another board. This is all of the

knowledge that I have of the procedure.

I saw a venture at the pilot station this morning with an ultimate seat, I knew des does not make seats for the venture, so I asked this guy what he had done.

He bought the Rstd seat, pull the staples and transfered the seat pad and cover on to the RSV seat pan. I think I'll do the same.

He did not know about this site but He also said he did not like to surf internet.

I talked to Des at thunder beach, he said he did not make the ultimate for the venture because he thought the stock seat was as good as his. I told him no, it was not, I think if we would send him some e-mail asking for ultimates for the ventures he might would start making them.
