Shot Posted June 22, 2009 #1 Posted June 22, 2009 I purchased a motorcycle jack from Pep Boys some time ago and have not used it as yet. Yesterday I slid it under my 2004 Venture R/S; I couldn't find a place to position the jack that might not cause damage. Also, is there something on the undercarriage that shows the center balance for my bike?
SilvrT Posted June 22, 2009 #2 Posted June 22, 2009 You will need an adapter to make it work. You can either make one or one of the members on this site makes them (I believe it's "Carbon One") check this link... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1585/cat/7/date/1161840513
RandyR Posted June 22, 2009 #3 Posted June 22, 2009 The Carbon1 adapter works well with my Sears jack. Its almost a necessity as heavy as these bikes are.
RedRider Posted June 22, 2009 #4 Posted June 22, 2009 No question about it, get the CarbonOne lift adapter. You can find it in the Classified section. If you want to do more than just change the oil, you should probably spring for the one with the legs. It makes a nice, stable platform for your bike while allowing you to remove the jack. RR
04Midnight Posted June 22, 2009 #5 Posted June 22, 2009 I use four hockey pucks, one on each corner of the lift. One of them has a notch in it for the kick stand switch.
BigBoyinMS Posted June 23, 2009 #6 Posted June 23, 2009 I've been using 4 pieces of 2x4 about 3 1/2 square; one on each corner. And I have TRIED to make it slip. I guess the frame kind of indents into the soft wood.
Donnie1 Posted June 23, 2009 #7 Posted June 23, 2009 How do you keep the pieces of wood or the hockey pucks from moving on the stand?
04Midnight Posted June 23, 2009 #8 Posted June 23, 2009 After you have 900lbs of motorcycle sitting on them, they don't move.
