bongobobny Posted June 21, 2009 #2 Posted June 21, 2009 The "blue" line is for the running lights, or parking lights if you prefer, or whatever you wantto call them. It is a fused line so check there first...
Jrichard Posted June 21, 2009 Author #3 Posted June 21, 2009 The "blue" line is for the running lights, or parking lights if you prefer, or whatever you wantto call them. It is a fused line so check there first... I am assuming that the in-line is the 'glass type' or?????-----am somewhat electrically challenged-------been into headlite area and replaced the relays {have a bunch of em laying round]---------I hope that it is not inside the 'harness'???????
bongobobny Posted June 21, 2009 #4 Posted June 21, 2009 Yes, the glass type, or the newer plug in type if yours has been converted, which a lot have been... Fuse box should be on top of or near the battery.
GeorgeS Posted June 21, 2009 #5 Posted June 21, 2009 You said brake lights don't work, then you said they do work ( brake lights that is ) Re-post, exactly what does not work. However, at this point I would remove the Seat, under the passenger section, on the left side, there is a plug, with about 15 small wires going thru it. Clean that plug with WD-40 or electrical contact cleaner, and blow out with compressed air. Also, Inspect All the wire going into and out of that plug. Tug Tug on them, make sure none of them are loose. Also, remove the Headlight assembly, and check All the plugs, in that area, and the plugs on all of the Relays located in there, Migh be a loose pull apart plug someplace. Go over the Symptoms again. What works with eng running, and with eng not running ?? Also, watch to see if head light goes " OFF " while you have the Start Button pressed to start the engine. Also, are you saying that only the Front flashers work, but NOT the Rear flashers ?
Jrichard Posted June 21, 2009 Author #6 Posted June 21, 2009 Yes, the glass type, or the newer plug in type if yours has been converted, which a lot have been... Fuse box should be on top of or near the battery. May have to change out the old fuse box---------all were whole!-------may b i'll splice into it and bypass the slot that fuse pushes into------------or I can allways lead and 'tap' the brake lite to sloe'em down------looking forward to c-n ya in West by GOD virginny-------Jrichard:mo money:
Jrichard Posted June 21, 2009 Author #7 Posted June 21, 2009 Pulled the 13 prong connector/{-help of 2 mules]---I never thought of that plug:cleaned and greased -up real goooood-------went back to fuse box and the 10A turn fuse holder---had been 3M connector together, opened up said connector and Bingo ---somehow?????? H20 and 'found' it's way in and shorted out: put in a new 3M and{it was like the PROPHET and HOLY MAN had waved HIS[candy-man hand over it} Hey Condor:that was a shameless plug???????----------serious business NOW--------THANK YOU BOB and GEORGE S------for ya'lls vast electrical knowledge--------MISSION ACCOMPLISHED:thumbsup2::usa:
Yammer Dan Posted June 21, 2009 #8 Posted June 21, 2009 Guess you can see your way to West by God Now!!! Or be seen which is probally better!!
GeorgeS Posted June 21, 2009 #9 Posted June 21, 2009 If the Front running lights don't work, the only problem can be an open wire from the " signal fuse " going to the joint that splits off to feed the two bulbs. Or, no voltage from output side of the signal fuse. Also, check the input side of that signal fuse, to make sure voltage there with key in the " ON " position, Also lock handl bars to left, and move key one more position, and see if the " Park Light" function comes on. ( both left front, and tail ) Or, a missing ground to both the bulb sockets, of any lights that do not function correctly.
GeorgeS Posted June 21, 2009 #10 Posted June 21, 2009 But check your parking light function anyway. And clean the bulb sockets. And clean every other Plug you happen to see !! Wherever it is !! Its the right thing to do
