Okay, here's the situation - I'm getting the itch for a new bike BIG TIME. I've had my RSV now for 5 years (longest I've ever kept a bike). It's never given me a moments grief. Never had the "whine" &/or "chirp" so many have agonized over. I've added lots of accessories over time and it is simply a gorgeous bike. I suddenly have a craving for a big V-twin tourer. I've decided it's either a Harley Ultra or the new Kawasaki Voyager. The Harley still has heat issues but is very aggressively priced at the dealer. The new Voyager is simply a gorgeous bike (to me anyways) and has features that appeal to me a little more than the Ultra. Problem is, every time I'm ready to pull the trigger, I look at my gorgeous RSV and ask myself...why? Anyone else ever suffer from the "itch"? It's all I can think about these days.:bang head: :sign67:

As you probally know I'm a 1st gen rider. But my wife planted the seed of a "new" one to retire with. Wouldn't have to work on it just ride it. And everyone knows if you ride bike 20+ yrs old you are going to spend a lot of time keeping them up. So like you I spend a lot of time thinking about it. But that is probally it just thinking. This last accident may insure that I keep what I have and be lucky to be able to hang on to them. But the "Itch" is there. Get rid of all my 1st Gens and I would have a very nice down payment on a 2ng Gen? or on a ..........

I got tooo much time to think. If I were you it would probally be the Kaw. But I'm not you. It will probally be 1st Gen for me.

I know that itch well. I quit riding when I was just in my 20s. I had kids and couldn't afford a bike at the time.

After my daughter got engaged last year I got an itch that only buying a bike would scratch.

I think a lot of us get that itch, but once we ride a different machine we realise how nice our bikes are. I myself sold my '08 due to financial reasons, I now have an '89 VR that I still have to pick up. That being said when I get back in a good enough financial state to get something newer I am going to shop around and try some different things. One will be a Honda Valkyrie Interstate, so go out and shop around, take some for rides, but you might find your RSV for all it's shortcomings will be the one you really love

Oh, that dad burned itch! I got it, and I scratched it. :mo money:

I'm glad I did and am very happy with the choice of my RSV.

:big-grin-emoticon:

I plan retirement in 4 years. We'll see if the itch comes again

then. :rotfl:

I think it is similar to your cage. You get all excited about it when it's new but after driving it for a few years you get a little bored with it, it isn't as shiny as it used to be, doesn't run as good, etc, and your interests wander towards another new jewel.

Wanderer, I just bought a new one and I too have 4 more years to go until retirement. I, however, will be retiring with a trike so the RSV will be for sale then...

Well I took the 89 out for a 100 mile ride the other day, engine

running like a " Swiss Watch " and most every other part of the

bike functioning better then new !!

Almost new tires, new brakes all around, Corbin Seat, All electrical mods,

installed and functioning to prefection.

I was thinking the same thing dureing that ride, but as I put the old girl

thru her paces's, and thinking about the ride on the 97 FLH, last month, and

compareing the two as for performance ???? Hmmm ??

Well, this old girl, has served me well, and she is going to stay on the road !!

The 97 HorsePower is still there, on tap, as they say !!! I love this engine !!!

Squidly !! Knows what I'm talking about here. And, spare parts are cheap !!!

I can understand wanting a new bike, but why go down so low, ( thinking of buying a harley, could be temperary insanity) just kidding. Buy the kawasaki I'm curious need an actual owner report on one.

But remember there is a lot miles left in that venture.

freedom of the road for all

I got the itch for a new set of wheels myself, just haven't found the bike I want yet. And I do have permission from the boss to buy a Second Gen.....she wants one too:thumbsup2:

I don't think the itch ever goes away ... it just goes to sleep for a while! Danged thing woke up with a vengance last fall ... the '06 RSMV did a good job of scratching it but the itch is still there ... '09 Ultra might help but it ain't gonna happen ... just too much money.

An itch or an illness or an addiction? It never stops and I'm not sure I want it too either. I like looking at bikes. I like to see what the "new ones" have to offer. Mine are running good, put alot of money into them to make them "mine" not sure if I want to start over with a new one just yet. I've seen some things on the new ones and thought "that's nice" or "how clever" but nothing has really grabbed me and knocked my socks off to warrant me getting a new one. Till then I'll ride what I have, enjoy it and keep looking.

Bartley,I got the Itch awhile back and as said go for a ride, you will see you got the BEST. I just about bought a Harley Ultra, then I rode one..New one for half a day. Bottom line in our area alot of hills so I got to REALLY see the difference in power. (Not Knocking Harley At All) They have a VERY nice bike, but not for me. Well since I always had wanted a "Hog" I spent 10 bucks and got one...See attached Photos...Ride safe my friend!

Yesterday I stopped at WOW Used Motorcycles in Marietta, Georgia, just north-west of Atlanta.

They have more different motorcycles than ANY motorcycle dealership I have ever been in, probably 3 times as many !!! Their web page says 'over 600 used bikes', I believe it.

If you're near Atlanta its worth stopping to gawk. I mean lust !!!
