Look what I just found on my scoot. It just happened to be sitting the right way when I walked past and something caught my eye.Needless to say I just ordered up a set of Dunlop EliteII's.I don't think I'll ever buy kenda kruz tires.

I found the exact same thing on a Metzeler ME880 yesterday.

I ordered a set of the Kenda Kruz. I figure if I'm going to be throwing them away I might as well throw away the cheap ones.

i'm curious to those of you who have experence with them:

do the avon venoms hold up as well as the avon roadriders? they are fantastic tires for the price (the roadriders)

i'm getting a 1st gen mk2 as soon as uncle sam coughs up my tax credit, and was considering a few different brands. looks like metzlers and kendas are out :p

not a fan of dunlops either.. they stick like glue, but i just don't seem to get the miles out of them.

Do a search for Avon of Venom X, you'll see lots of posts about how much people like them.

As for the Dunlops, they wear because they stick. Stick is good but it comes at a price.

I got em too. 4000miles so far and no problems. I guess any brand can have a fail. But ,I will keep an eye on them more so now. That looks like you could get them for a replacment.........

How many miles were on the Kenda????

I don't know,I just bought this bike a few weeks ago and they were on there but they look like near new tires.

Decided to go with the Elite II's instead of the E3's ?

I like the E 2's better. :thumbsup2:

Yup E2's have always performed well and I've never had problems with them.I think they're about the best all around tire for big bikes.

My Metzelers came on the bike too. I don't know what abuse the PO did to them. Considering how they were mounted abuse seems likely.......

Another low cost brand to look at is the Shinko's. They are basically Yokohama tires from my research. They supposedly purchased all the assets of Yokohama after the Yokohama factory was damaged in one of the earthquakes. I put a set on a VStar 650 and they look pretty good. Not sure about sizes for our bikes.

I'm still running Kendas on all three bikes with no problems. With all brands once in a while there is a bad one.Does it look like a cut from road debris or something?

Way too general a statement. Dunlop makes all kinds of tires! E2's and E3's wear like iron! I too was an E2 fan and was skeptical of the E3's, but I've used them now and they wear just as well and handle better. That said, my VR had E2's on when I bought it and I found a similar problem with my rear tire before too long. I figured they were probably pretty old and the bike just hadn't see many miles in the last few years so they didn't wear out.

Yes they do but they don't have the sizes that these bikes take. Mostly Sport tires.

I've used that MT66 front. Check on the rear, they have a LOT of sizes in that model. It's a cheaper tire that handles well and wears halfway decent. Not a bad choice!
