rcijr Posted June 16, 2009 #1 Posted June 16, 2009 Hey all, I'm heading on a bike trip with some family members (our annual trip) and I'm trying to find some lodging near Manistique, MI. We're trying to keep the cost as low as we can. There will be 7 or 8 of us. Any input would be appreciated.
BOO Posted June 16, 2009 #2 Posted June 16, 2009 Been several years since I been up that way. There are several Mom, Pop kind of places in that town but I'll be darn if I can think of any of the names. I think summers are pricey anyway. Search on the Super 8 site or some of the other less expensive places, you should be able to come up with something. BOO
Guest seuadr Posted June 16, 2009 #3 Posted June 16, 2009 we just got back from a week in the UP.. we used priceline.com and hotels.com to find the cheapest hotels in the area, most of our nights ran around 40 - 50 dollars when it was all said and done. of course, the further into peak season you go, the worse it gets. probably a campsite would be the more economical, usually you can have 4-8 people per site and most of the UP is state and federal parks, so the campsites are around 10 dollars a night or so.

cowpuc Posted June 16, 2009 #5 Posted June 16, 2009 I cant recall how far Manistique is from Escanaba but for sure the accomadations will be cheaper there.. Seems like its only about an hour between the two... I had my family in da up yonder last year for vacation and we stayed at the Super 8 in Escanaba and it was under 50 for the night for two beds.. Good resturant across the parking lot and bike shops around town too.. Come to think of it,, indeed there are a couple of older ma/pop joints coming into Manistique that you may find cheap.. Another thing you might wanna do is stop at the welcome center on the North side of the bridge and grab a U.P. motel coupon book - my wife taught me that!! Skeeters are real bad right now so if you decide to hardcore it you might wanna sleep a couple nights at home with a chainsaw running to get used to the buzzing noise Watch your speed in Michigan, we are in a world of hurt economically and lots of small towns are writing for 1 mile over now - ye be warned!!! fielddoc Posted June 23, 2009 #6 Posted June 23, 2009 Hope I'm not too late on this post. I just got back from the UP and the best place to stay in Manistique is the Holiday motel. VERY VERY clean and cheap $55.00 a night.
