another stupid tire question - small rear tire

Question: has anyone tried going to a smaller rear tire? I believe the rear is a 90 series. Has anyone even seen a 15 inch 70 or 60 series rear tire. and then for those of you that have tried this, how badly did it affect the top end on the freeway?

A few years ago I put on an 80-series rear tire because the tires I had ordered did not arrive in time to change out for a vacation trip. The 80-series tire only lasted about 10k miles (vs. 16-18k I get with the Metzlers) and the speedometer and odometer error almost doubled.

 

I suspect a 70- or 60-series tire will be worse.
