bongobobny Posted April 22, 2012 Share #4 Posted April 22, 2012 I agree, don't see any at present but they do come up somewhat often. In the mean time you may want to consider these as a lot of times what is for sale does not have these... http://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-XVZ1200-VENTURE-ROYALE-1983-1984-DRIVER-BACKREST-BAR-ABA-26HCD-17-00-NOS-/250992476928?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item3a70514300
lsutley Posted April 22, 2012 Share #5 Posted April 22, 2012 I have a backrest that is from a Gen II in brown. I also have a custom seat with an integrated backrest in a sort of off gray color. If you are interested, please send me a PM and I will send pictures.
ActionJax Posted April 22, 2012 Author Share #6 Posted April 22, 2012 bongobobny Wow I had know idea that just the brakets to put the darn backrest on would cost $174.00! lsutley I have a black seat, but I guess I could always get it covered. Can you send me over some pics? Thanks
lsutley Posted April 22, 2012 Share #7 Posted April 22, 2012 I mixed a few details in my first reply. I went down to the garage, took the pictures, banged my head against the wall, downed a Guinness Extra Stout and now have the correct information. The backrest is a Venture Line. The custom seat is a Travelcade. I also have a stock seat in excellent condition. All the items are for a Gen 1 MK II and all are brown.
Wizard765 Posted April 22, 2012 Share #8 Posted April 22, 2012 The MkII hardware won't fit your 83. You could keep and eye on eBay or you could buy new at Utopia pretty much the cost of the hardware that is on eBay right now. http://www.utpr.com/venture.html Lester's travelcade seat would be and excellent choice though and all you would need to do is recover it. I priced covering mine once and it was about $150. Travelcade is a very nice seat.
alvald83 Posted April 23, 2012 Share #9 Posted April 23, 2012 I put a utopia backrest on my ('83)bike. It a much more modern looking backrest and it's very comfortable. You mount it to your existing seat (very easy). See my pics
ActionJax Posted April 23, 2012 Author Share #10 Posted April 23, 2012 Yeah, I was looking at that. Looks really nice. And if I'm going to have to spend $174 bucks on just the brakets, I might as well buy the Utopia. Thanks everyone for their imput.
