WiVR Posted June 15, 2009 #1 Posted June 15, 2009 I am having trouble tightening my antenna to the base. The black plastic piece which houses the female portion of the antenna mount screws on to the base seemingly all the way and then won't tighten up. The male thread sticking up from the base into the antenna starts to spin. Is this normal and if not, is there any way to fix it? Looks like it's sealed. Thanks Kevin
GeorgeS Posted June 15, 2009 #2 Posted June 15, 2009 www.firestik.com Most likley time for a new antenna
gibvel Posted June 15, 2009 #3 Posted June 15, 2009 Had the same thing happen with mine. Got a replacement off of ebay.
cimmer Posted June 16, 2009 #4 Posted June 16, 2009 There is a plastic washer that goes between the base of the antenna and the stud. I have found that without that, the antenna wont tighten up properly. Check out the part fiche and you will see it listed there. Here is the information from Flatout on it. It is listed under Audio 1.. 28 WASHER,PLATE 90202-17211-00 (replaces 26H-88149-00-00) 1 $3.23 Hope this helps. Rick F.
WiVR Posted June 16, 2009 Author #5 Posted June 16, 2009 I have to get a couple other things so I will try the washer. I may also try a little JB Weld and a die to cut through the JB. Thanks for the info. Kevin
Skid Posted June 16, 2009 #6 Posted June 16, 2009 You could always switch over to a FireStik. You wouldn't believe the difference....
WiVR Posted June 16, 2009 Author #7 Posted June 16, 2009 Did you folks use the standard firestick and were there any other things you need to get to install? I have an 86 VR with CB and std 1 antenna mount.
