Bigfoot Posted June 14, 2009 #1 Posted June 14, 2009 Anyone have a recommendation for a cooling vest? I'd like to find one for my 30-day ride this August. I read somewhere a great review of a vest that can last up to two days but not certain where. Any thoughts?
IH Truck Guy Posted June 14, 2009 #2 Posted June 14, 2009 Try this link.I think that this is the one Shari is going to get for the Arkansas trip. www.coolshirt.net/motorcycle-cool-bag.html
BuddyRich Posted June 14, 2009 #3 Posted June 14, 2009 I just kept a bottle of water in the front and dumped some on my shirt. Hillbilly AC but it worked.

flb_78 Posted June 14, 2009 #5 Posted June 14, 2009 On the Two Wheeled Texans forum, many just use the cooling vests from an industrial place such as Grainger. Many have the bonus of also being reflective. They cost much less then ones labeled for "motorcycles".
Riderduke Posted June 14, 2009 #6 Posted June 14, 2009 Try this one http://www.tuffrhino.com/MiraCool_Poncho_Vest_p/hs1045.htm It comes in Beige which would be my preferance. But the High-Viz orange is safer if anyone looks under your mesh jacket:rotf: I just saw this one the other day http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/sport/mesh+motorcycle+jackets/fieldsheer_iceberg+cooling+vest I'm just not sure if It is $10.00 better:confused24: I will be getting one for the trip to the International rally just gotta decide
BMW Posted June 14, 2009 #7 Posted June 14, 2009 Another one to look at http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/View_Catalog_Page.asp?mi=3471

One of the customer ratings / comment is made by Terry Kori aka BLACKJACK:clap2: (But it only comes in High-Viz orange)

Condor Posted June 14, 2009 #11 Posted June 14, 2009 I just kept a bottle of water in the front and dumped some on my shirt. Hillbilly AC but it worked. Yep!!! That works great... 'Nother thing. If the humidity's on the high side don't expect anything to keep the high temps down.... except high speed....
CMIKE Posted June 14, 2009 #12 Posted June 14, 2009 661 core cooler. We use these in motorcross. Soak them in water and they expand this jelly like stuff inside. They sit on your shoulders and around your neck like shoulder pads...cool you off. http://www.gmo1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=661-1513Ywp&click=2 I have seen Fire fighters and paramedics use these. We put them in an ice box with ice and put them on the riders before a race during the hotest times of the racing season.
Curbcrow Posted June 14, 2009 #13 Posted June 14, 2009 Try Techniche-Intl.com for some nice evaporative vests. We ride in Arizona year round with these cooling vests, they are great. They also have skull caps, bandanas, etc........
aharbi Posted June 15, 2009 #14 Posted June 15, 2009 For Summer Texas riding I wear a ridecool.com evaporative vest (with sleeves) under my mesh jacket. It lasts from 4 - 6 hours and makes hot weather riding enjoyable. I no longer say "it's too hot to ride". I just soak the vest and go.

I have had it for 3 years and is just about time to replace it. It works great under my Joe Rocket summer jacket.
